Thanks guys for the advice. We (several neighbours and I) have all tried that, but the council don't do anything.
Anyway, moving onto nicer things. We packed up a picnic and spent the day at the beach today. It felt like a summers day! People were in vest tops, bikini's etc...yet this time last year we had snow! I cant believe it. Long may it continueWe only spent £6 and that was for ice creams. We took loads of snacks, food, drinks etc. So a nice cheap day out.
The kids are off to their Dads house next weekend. He is picking them up at 6pm on Friday. That is good timing as I have my 1 day Mindfulness course on the Saturday all day. I am really looking forward to that, it should be really nice
How is everyone else enjoying this lovely day?0 -
I would have enjoyed it more it it had been a nice day here! It was raining on and off but I suppose we still had fun!
Lunch with some relatives was nice and some quality time with husband and little boy was brilliant so can't complain!
Had some good and bad money stuff- husband got £110 overtime this weekend so that went into the pig, but I had to transfer £50 out of the savings to cover some unexpected spends this weekend.
At first I was a bit annoyed, but I'm over it. We had a lovely family weekend and we deserve it so I'm over it!!
New total is £1420CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

:j :j :T That's a great amount Jo, well done! You must be pleased with how your savings are goingIs your husband on board with the saving plan too?
Just over 2 weeks until I can save any money. Getting rather impatient now! Managing without my tax credits has been a bit more difficult than I imagined so far, but I am sure I'll get into the swing of things soon enough. It has helped a bit that the kids Dad gave me £30 this week (a very rare occurrence!)
Anyway, I am off to work now. Only working until 12.30 though.0 -
Good afternoon everyone
Yet another beautiful and hot day here in Cornwall
Work flew by today, I was most definitely 'in the zone' which is nice. I really enjoy cleaning for this family, they are very nice.
Another £30 should be in my account within 48 hours, which will mean that I have £212 in there. I need to go online and get some flea and worm stuff for the cat. I buy Advantage and its very expensive at the vets compared to online.
I use www.vetuk.co.uk
Lunch today is from the cupboards- Ham and onion tart (warm from the oven) with salad. It smells lovely in the oven at the moment!
Dinner will be risotto, using carrots, peas and chorizo. I need to defrost the chorizo (MUST NOT FORGET!!). I do need to spend a little money though, getting some healthy snacks for the boys and I.0 -
Just thought I'd pop by having read your diary this afternoon (Whilst lounging on the sofa feeling a little under the weather) and I have to say that I'm so impressed by your motivation and your ability to save. You have done so well and should be extremely proud of yourself
I find it harder to keep motivated having a monthly income rather than weekly as you have to wait so much longer before you can add to your savings. I'm reduced to reporting my daily food budget and my daily gas usage on my diary just so I have something MS to report
Keep it up

Why does everyone seem to be feeling ill now the weather is nicer?
carry on WTB, you and cathy may inspire me yet to empty my cupboards lol. I have a few doozies in there (gifts of xmas past) like a tiny bottle of truffles. Pasta or omlette for that. And a whole lot of pasta and oriental spice pastes.0 -
Hiya Penny, thanks for popping in to say hi, its always lovely to see new people and makes me feel less alone with the saving
Looks like you are doing really well with yours, well done!
atush- it wasn't that long ago that we were all ill. It was probably the worse illness we've had in a while. Anyway, today I heard of 2 people who have had Scarlet Fever and described the exact symptoms that we have had. We are better now though.0 -
Scarlet fever, blimey
That's bad. I'm not that ill. I'm glad you're better, WantToBeSE

Yes WTBSE, husband is definitely on board with the savings! He just finds it hard to keep on top of where the money is at because I tend to deal with money stuff. He doesn't know how much we've saved or how much is in the bank, but he doesn't really spend much so it's not a problem.
I tell him how much we've saved at milestones! I'll tell him tomorrow that I've just out our child benefit into the savings account (forgot it was coming in so haven't budgeted it!) which brings the total up to £1500!!! Hoorayyyyyyy!!!
You'll be adding money to your pot again before you know it WTBSE.
I saw you mention somewhere that your ex was giving you a bit of money for the boys- does he not pay regular maintenance? At least it was a nice unexpected bonus
Scarlett Fever sounds nasty! Hope everyone feels better soon, whatever illness you might have.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))
