WantToBeSE wrote: »Not really a recipe per se, but this is what I am doing:
1 onion, sliced
paprika, cumin, garlic, salt, pepper (rubbed into the pork)
Put the pork on top of the onions (inside the SC), then put on Low for 10 hours.
Then, 'pull' it and add BBQ ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce and a bit of mustard.
It is a bit of a cheat, using BBQ ketchup, but the only other thing that I have found that comes close is 'Liquid smoke' given to me years ago. I cant find it anymore! So BBQ ketchup is an OK substitute.
I haven't included any quantities either, as it tends to be 'A dollop' of this and 'a squirt' of that...you know how it is
I have decided on this recipe after researching loads of pulled pork recipes onlineI hope it works!
Sounds absolutely yum. I bet you it will be lovely.0 -
How was your pulled pork WTBSE? It sounded delicious!
I made it once but i didn't have enough sauce for the amount of meat so it ended up a bit bland and husband wasn't keen. I do love a pulled pork sandwich or wrap when out for lunch!
We had a nice weekend- day at the park on Saturday and we went to my friend's baby's christening yesterday so that was nice. Too busy for my liking though! I didn't get to Aldi until 5.30pm and there were quite a few bare shelves by that time! I got most of what I needed for £28.97 so just need to buy a couple of things today.
Going to try to get some housework done today... Have a distinct lack of motivation though!
How's the car WTBSE? Nice and clean now? Are you getting used to driving it? Have you decided what you're doing with your existing one yet?CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

Pulled Pork FAILURE
Wasted the whole thing, so it went into the bin. Grrr!!
It didn't need 10-12 hours, those timings must have been for a bigger piece of pork..it cooked the whole thing to a cinder
Hmmm...think we might just have battered fish (frozen), cheese & onion mash and some veggies for dinner.
Have scrapped my car after nobody wanted to take it off my hands..only got £45 for it at the scrappy, but it'll go straight into the savings account.
My car is lovely and clean on the outside, Jo. But when I took it to the normal place (I normally pay £9 for a wash and wax and a hoover) they said it'll cost £15! So I just had the wash and wax. Will take it for a hoover on Wednesday I think.
I am getting used to driving it now and much prefer it to the Punto I had.
Feeling a bit blah today..and a tad tearful for some reason. Think I might just be tired.0 -
Sorry you're feeling so down WTBSE. I suppose we all have days like that.
For what it's worth, I think you've got a lot to be happy about and you'll agree with me soon! Promise! Don't underestimate the benefits of a good nights sleep and a fresh perspective on things.
Sorry your pulled pork didn't work out- as you can see from my last post, mine didn't either! It's probably a dodgy recipe! Haha blame the recipe.
On the plus side, you got £45 for your car and that's more money in your savings!
Why don't you do something nice tonight to be good to yourself? Once the kids are off to bed/ doing their own thing, you can relax and do something for you.
I need a night like that soon!!

Thanks for the hugs, Jo. It means a lot. Cant even blame it my TOTM!
It'll pass, I am sure of that.0 -
(((Hugs))) Hun. We all have off days.
At least
1) the car cost £500 under budget and you got £45 for your car so you're actually £545 up on your projections.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Thanks tattycath
Another positive- A lady from Barnardos left a message on my machine today, about the volunteer vacancy. She said that there is a meeting for all possible new volunteers next Friday and she would like me to call her back on Thursday this week to discuss what volunteering entails.
That's good.0 -

That's good.
That's really goodHope something comes of it, WantToBeSE.
The other good thing about the car, aside from the fact that you came out £545 ahead, as tattycath said, is that you know the person you bought it from and so you can vouch for its background - which with cars is really important, not at all a small thing.0 -
Thanks Cathy. I really hope something comes of it too.
I am starting to think about the psychotherapy training, and working out how I will be able to afford it.
I need to find out more about the costs and the possibility of paying by instalments, some let you pay termly.
It's very expensive though.0 -
How are you feeling this morning WTBSE?
Would you like to play a guessing game? Can you guess where I am right now?
Hope everyone who reads this diary has a fantastic day"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."0
