You're doing great! Good for you saving so carefully.0

Thanks, tiger eyes
I am treating the first £1500 like a debt, so paying it as quick as possible. It may mean having less luxuries, but i need to know i have enough for a secondhand car if mine goes wrong. Without a car, i have no way of getting to work.
After that first £1500 it'll feel less urgent.0 -
Hi WantToBeSE - Pop down to a similar thread on the how much have you saved? Its called Is anyone starting from scratch? Likeminded people who are saving between £0 and a few thousand. Join us for ideas and support when the going gets tough!
Have just read through your diary with interest. My goal is a savings buffer of £1,500 -the same as your aim for a car. great work so far. Good luck!Back on the trains again!0 -

WantToBeSE, btw, you're ever so lucky living in Cornwall. I love Cornwall - such a beautiful place.0

Didn't think that i was going to be able to save any £ this week, but i have been given an extra £24 from work, due to a mis calculation on last weeks wages (i forgot about this!). So that went straight into the savings.
new total-£544.10
Also had an email from work to say that they will be giving me my petrol money next week-£54. That'll go straight towards savings too.
I have spoken to the kids about Christmas. I told them how important it is that i save some £ and that Christmas will be smaller (meaning less presents) this year. Surprisingly, neither of them were that bothered! So i wont be spending ANY of my savings on Christmas...i'll have to find money from my weekly budget!
Christmas will be tight tight tight this year, but i NEED to keep the savings in the bank.
Already started on the shopping for it!0 -
Today i received the boys Child Benefit of £134. £100 of this will be going towards Christmas presents and i'll transfer the £34 into savings.
I always used to worry about using the boys money for saving, as its their money not mine. However, i now realise thats its in their interests for me to have savings too, it's not just for me.
I need to ask their dad when he is next planning on having them for the weekend as i need to get into town and get the rest of the stocking fillers in 1 hit. I work Mon-Fri and have the boys most weekends, so i find it hard to get out by myself.0 -
Good morning Diary!
So yesterday i bought some new boots and coat for winter (a must to stay warm and dry). I see them as an investment really. Last winter was horrid as i was paying debts off and didnt have any waterproof boots or a decent coat and was wet and miserable..this winter i'll be snug as a bug in a rug!
I paid via Paypal which has this new 'Pay after delivery' process, so it can take up to 14 (or is it 20??) days to be taken from your account! I have transferred this amount over to my e-saver this morning in preparation for it being debited.
I am starting to hate spending money as i want to see my ISA grow instead! I never thought i'd write that!!
The coat: http://www.getthelabel.com/fcp/produ...r=black%20marl
The boots (omg, would you look at those beautiful things!): http://www.getthelabel.com/fcp/produ...9?colour=brown
I need to buy my boys some coats and shoes too. My teenager is very hard to buy for. He HATES wearing coats of any sort. I'll have to have a look around at some discounts and see if i can find anything.0 -

Haven't heard of the new Paypal thing - very useful, thanks.
I'm definitely cutting back across the board too. Never thought I'd write that either :rotfl:0
