Our rate is 2.5 at the moment.
I really do need to up pension really if I'm honest.
As for savings...I desperately need us to have a cushion-so I'm trying to save at least 5k this year. Fingers crossed.
Our income is erratic so I just pay off what I can - over and above the normal payment - when I can.
I am concentrating more on savings right at this moment in time though.

It is good to hear you are at least thinking of pension and Emergency cash. I hear to many people who are all about the mtg and they get tunnel vision. And they forget they need to address other areas more/first.

We overpay still (even though we shouldn't our rate is less than half yours) but we pay into cash savings, equities and pensions too.

Hi All :) Thanks for the well wishes. I am definitely feeling much better today and went off to work without a problem.

atush- my car is already 13 years old! I am basically jut going to carry on driving it until it next breaks down..or until April, which ever happens soonest! I want to make sure that I have a decent car for when we go up to Longleat, and that is April 12th. Am going to ask around on Facebook about local car sales and see what everyone says.

Jo- I like the focus, everytime I see one I think I would like one. Just depends on what is around at the time I guess. I keep looking on autotrader and keeping an eye on what's available.
Great news about your parking space, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)

tattycath- i'll pop over in a bit to say hi on your diary :) Thanks for reminding me about pensions..i really need to start looking into private pensions. Will go back and look at the thread I started on it ages ago!

Cathy- I see you had a very rude visitor over on your thread yesterday,,nicely dealt with by you though and atush too :)

Need to do the food shopping either today or tomorrow. Since I am feeling energetic, I could do it today. Hmm, on second thoughts, I haven't even written a list yet, so maybe i'll write the list today and do the actual shopping tomorrow. I WONT leave it until Saturday again!
NEED to phone BT today, about BB and Phone.

Well, I have just had an interesting hour!

Phoned BT who insisted that I couldn't get the deal that I wanted. I was sent a letter by them, saying I could get Unlimited Weekend calls and Unlimited BB for £8 p/m for the first 12 month, then £16 a month after that (an 18 month contract) and this is what I wanted to get. I told them not to send me letters about deals if I couldn't actually get the deal"
So, long story short- I got the deal :D So have just saved myself £15 a month :D Yay!

And then..i put a status about wanting a new car, and asking if anyone knew where to buy one. My sister calls me and says she is selling her car! Its a 2005 Hyundai Getz. It's not exactly what I was after, as its a 1.1L, but she is offering it to me for £1000. It comes with 1 years MOT and Tax (both were done 2 weeks ago) and most importantly I know its been looked after.
My Step-Dad bought it from new, and when he passed away 5 years ago, my sister bought it from my Mum.
Now my sister is getting a new one, so I am having it :)

I think I am going to cry, transferring £1000 over to her..my bank account wont have much money left in it..but on the plus side, i'll have a nice car :)

My ten yr old is a Hyundai lol, but a Santa Fe as a Getz wouldn't make it thru the potholes in our lane lol

We don't have bad potholes here..well, depends on where you go really!
Never driven a Hyundai, atush, anything I should be aware of? If yours is 10 then I feel reassured that they last :)

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe and it is the best car I've ever had :D

I am getting the car on Sunday :) I have to think about selling mine now. Its a heap of junk, so I wont be getting much for it, maybe £300. But it'll go into the savings pot.
I am a bit scared of not having much in the savings pot once I pay for the car.

OK, feeling quite motivated today :). I have decided that i need to steps things up a bit.

So, thinking about what i need to save money for...hold on, will get my list and BRB......

as i said in the opening post of this diary, this is what i need to save:

    £1500- Car.
£2000- I desperately want to move house.
    £1500-Emergency Pot.
    TOTAL= £5000.

Feeling brave, i am going to give myself a deadline. I will still have monthly goals, but i want a 'Big Deadline' (referred to as BD from now on..:D ) to focus and challenge me.

So, I, WTBSE, do declare that i will have £5K saved by the end of July 2014

    Remember this post WTBSE?
You allowed £1,500 for a car.and you are now only spending 1k on a car. A saving of £500 and whatever you get for your car. So you are ahead of your target already! Way to go! WTBSE! :j
