Hey WTBSE, how are you getting on with your to do list?
We've had a lovely morning feeding the ducks and playing in the park. My son is sleeping now after all the fresh air then we're off to do our food shopping! As you know, I don't mind it, but husband is coming with us this week and he always sneaks snacks into the trolley! He'd better behave!
I might make a banana loaf when I get home- it's nice to have a nice wee snack to take to work. This week I am NOT buying anything at work. The only acceptable things to buy are food top ups.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

My to do list is half finished
I have been shopping and have stripped the beds...that's about as far as I got before feeling poorly again and having to relax on the sofa.
However, I did put that 'down time' to good use and FINALLY contacted Barnardo's about possible volunteer vacancies. I am interested in a couple of different roles, so I look forward to being contacted about them.
I also went onto the Do-it website (volunteer website) and saw a few other ones that interested me. I'll wait to hear from Barnardo's first though.
I really hope it will lead to a 'proper job' in the long term, but its about so much more than that for me.
As well as those 2 things, I have also booked myself to do a 1 day Mindfulness course and a local counselling training centre. It costs £45 for the day, but I am hoping that it'll motivate me to start thinking seriously about my future career as a Psychotherapist. Life is 'easy' at the moment, and I imagine it'd be easy just to continue on like this for the time being, but I must keep in mind my long-term aims in regards to my career.
I haven't paid that £45 yet, I do it nearer the time. It includes lunch too.
Housework is all done, except the youngest sproglets room, but I cant face that today! Maybe tomorrow0 -
Glad you were nice and productive!
I've heard some really good thing about that mindfulness course- they promote it at my work as part of a 'taking care of your staff' thing that they do.
I'm glad you've still got your future career and goals in mind. Even if it's not something you can do straight away, it's still good to keep it in mind and take positive steps towards goals.
Well, the weekly shop is done.
It all started off well-
£14 in Aldi
THEN
£35.05 in Sainsburys!!
Husband is a nightmare!!! Bottles of innocent fruit juice (£4), guacamole and tzatziki dips for crisps (£2.40), deodorant (£3.20), cereal (£3.20)...goodness knows what else!! All of those things were wants rather than needs.
It's so frustrating! I went to sainsburys for a select few things that would have been £15-20 tops but it ended up so much more!
Overall, I only spent £49.05 which is still a low spend week but I'm just irritated that it couldn't been a lot cheaper.
Also, we usually have dinner at my mother in laws on a Monday night but I'm just off the phone to her because she's had to cancel so I'll need to find something to have for dinner tomorrow night. I'm sure there'll be something in the freezer.
Anyway- onwards and upwards!
How are you feeling now? Did you get to vegetate for a bit?
I'm knackered tonight- early night for me.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

JoJoC, I understand your frustration but at least it sounds as though the food your husband wants to buy is healthy, so that's a plus, I guess
I confess I love innocent smoothies and guacamole, though haven't bought either for a few months myself.

Oh yes, Cathy, it's definitely healthy enough (compared to cans of cola and chocolate like it used to be!!). It's just irritating that I know I could have had my shopping much cheaper. I would feel bad making a big deal about it though, because he's done so much overtime recently to enable us to save so much so I feel he deserves it. I'd rather he bought himself some thing he wanted though, than wasted money on food and stuff.
Moan over! I will move on, I promise!
I don't think I'll be saving anything this week coming but I'm just waiting patiently on 28th to come to see how much we can save from my monthly wage.CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

JoJoC, no it's understandable that you're irritated
I guess as long as your long-term savings goals aren't too undermined by it then that's the main thing.

Hi All
Urgh..I am still not wellFeel dreadful. But cant afford to take any time off work, so have been going everyday. I cannot take any time off, so no choice really. REALLY cant wait until the weekend. LAst weekend flew by, I spent most of it on the sofa having the shivers and a fever, nausea etc.
Have barely eaten, which I guess isn't helping either, but just cant face it. On the plus side, the lack of eating means a lack of spending, so I may be able to put away an extra £20 on Friday, which means i'll have reached my target for Feb....but i'd rather feel better and eat something! We'll see how it goes!
Sunny here today, and not that cold. The kids are out playing for the first time in months! Its lovelyI am just vegging out on the sofa, literally have no energy. Got home from work at 2pm and felt so ill and tired I almost cried..what a baby!

That's such a shame that you're still feeling under the weather! You should definitely spend as much time as possible in your jammies with a cup of tea in the hope that it makes you feel better.
Rubbish that you have to go to work, but that's the joy of being self employed isn't it? Poor you.
At least there is a silver lining in potential extra savings.
I had a NSD today so pleased about that. I've also set up a direct debit for a small credit cars debt that we have which is on a 0% interest card. Want to get rid of that quickly so at least this way, we won't be scrambling to pay it at the last minute when we remember it's due the next day!
This is a non-saving time of month for us- not much going into the bank and quite a bit going out so all quiet on the western front. I get paid a week on Friday so looking forward to that! I hope I notice a nice difference if my pay rise has been processed. An extra £30-50 per month will be very welcome thank you!!CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

Morning All
Another day, another dollar! Not feeling so bad today, but have woken up to a hacking cough. Think I am going to bite the bullet and make an appointment with the GP today. I don't normally bother them with coughs or colds but I feel so lousy.
Paid for my Mindfulness Day last night, so that's £45 gone. But well worth it
Cant wait until Friday when I can put some savings away!0 -
Morning WantToBeSE. Sounds like a good idea to go to the GP. These things can take a turn for the worse if they drag on. I've got a work colleague who is constantly sick with coughs and colds and he never seems to get better - he's always snuffling and wheezing. Must have a crap immune system. Much better to rest up and get healthy than let yourself get into a state where you are really weakened by it.0
