I wanted to put my washing on the line today but we had no clothes pegs!! (we just moved in from a flat before Xmas so never even thought about it). Remedied that at b&m bargains today though.

It was glorious here today, cold, but sunny. ☀

Thanks everyone. Dog seems okay. I’ve decided against her having an operation to have a lump removed as is going to cost over £1,000 and although insurance will cover some, it won’t cover all of it. She was bit by a dog a few years ago and has a lump to prove it!

Savings for this month do seem quite good though as long as I stick to my budget elsewhere (£871.36). Didn’t do bad over the weekend, avoided the supermarkets altogether really.

My only “going out” spends this month are a dinner out with my brother and his fianc!e on Sat (they say they don’t believe in Vals Day and think they feel sorry for me) and an 80s disco night at the end of the month which should be fun!

Jojoc – do you know what you are having? I found out at 16 weeks with my second and knowing it was another girl was handy as I had all the stuff from her big sister. Only two years between my two so still had pretty much everything. How much of an age gap will you have?

Last time we needed some I actually asked my OH to give them to me as an extra present lol.

Gave me something to unwrap under the tree lol

    Good Afternoon All :)

Wow, my house smells lovely! I have just put my falafel in the oven to cook..although it smells mainly of garlic and cumin, so we'll see how it tastes!

Determined not to spend any money until i absolutely have to, but definitely need loo roll. My teenager seems to go through it so fast! I keep asking him how big he thinks his bum is, as he uses so such of it!

I have £16 in the cupboard. Thats some left over money from the last 2 weeks grocery budget. I was going to put it in my SP (Sealed Pot, for the SP Challenge) but think I'll keep it there for next weeks dinner monies.

I am starting to make my big list for my monthly food shop. At the moment i am concentrating on using us the things that i already have in my cupboards, plus teaching my younger son to cook and bake.

I have LOADS of spices and herbs, as well as bacon, so need to get my thinking cap on.

Pollyanna, we aren't finding out. We had a surprise last time and will look forward to finding out on the big day this time too. My son will be 2.5 when this little one arrives so a good age gap I think.

Your cooking plans sound lovely wtbse, especially some tutorials for your son. Hopefully he enjoys!

Husband got paid again today and his overtime from the wages has gone straight into savings so the total is now £1050 :) im so chuffed that it's stacking up nicely, it's making all the weekends without my husband vaguely worthwhile.

We switched to bt infinity broadband on 29th Jan and last Thursday after only a week it stopped Working. I've been on the phone to them every night since and they still can't get it to work!! So infuriating!

I'm still on target for my savings this month and still have money in my budget for spends. I give myself £450 a month for groceries, children stuff, personal stuff and petrol and although it sounds like a whole heap of money, it tends to go quite quickly!

I'm still saving for mortgage as such, but yesterday a conversation with my mortgage company completely threw me.

They are willing to lend me enough money to cover my current mortgage I have with my brother and another £100,000 in order buy him out. Sounds like a scary amount, but if it means my house will be all mine (mine I tell you!), I'm thinking of doing it. Just have to speak to my brother and see if he is willing to go ahead with this plan rather than selling.

That all sounds good about the mortgage, I suppose if your brother is happy with it and it's the best solution for you then why not?

Is it more worth your while saving for a while to build up a back up fund, rather than taking on the bigger mortgage then being unable to save as much? Sorry, don't know your whole situation but just a point of view.

Glad the savings are on target!

I think its a great idea if you can stay in your house, no looking for a new property, no moving costs, your children can stay in their school :-D
  • Aw, thanks guys. Sorry, feel like I'm gate crashing this thread a little, but yeah if my brother goes for it, it will be amazing!

I bought this house in 2006 with my ex, then my brother bought him out when he left me and now I might be in a position to buy him out, yay!

We've gotten to the stage where we still get on, but it's hard as his fianc!e lives here now and think we just all need our own space.

But instead of selling up and incurring solicitors and estate agents fees and the stress of moving, I might be able to just stay in my house!
