  • It's human nature to relax once all needs are met. The ethos behind an oppressive back-to-work scheme is to keep you on your toes. There an unlimited box of resources and imaginative ways to advertise onesself for work.

Yes, 35 hr job search would definitely increase your chances of securing a role.

And you shouldn't be complaining, just doing it.

    OP I said this
What else are they doing whilst the rest of us are working? If you are taking state benefits your part of the bargain is to spend your timeactively looking for work not making excuses and blaming the government.

Excuse me,don't treat everyone who is on JSA lazy with the same brush attitude.
I didn't say anyone was lazy did I? I agree with the poster who said you are just looking for a fight.

Not so many Jobs about you know, and to your question! lots of people doJobseeking everyday like me but if there is no jobs to apply, then we can'tapply for jobs. it's that simple.

Oh wait, Yeah we can apply for jobs even those that need experience whichpeople might not have and it will be waste of the employers time and the JSAclaimants as well who applies.

Are you 1 of them people who thinks all JSA claimants are lazy and doledossers?

No I used to work in the unemployment benefit service and I fully understand that some people are lazy in or out of work and others work hard to get somewhere in life, these are usually the people with the work ethic and the positive attitude

I look on Job sites everyday like Universal Jobmatch, Indeed, Monster,fish4jobs and total jobs, I look in newspapers, I keep in contact with Jobagencies 3 times a week.

I apply for about 6 - 7 jobs a day if there is any jobs to apply, I apply forjobs about 40 miles (that's on my JSA Agreement) from me like Manchester, Bury,Bolton ete.

You can't be too far from me and I know people who have got jobs with no experience recently what kind of job do you want?

I appreciate it's tough out there, my company has just announced job cuts and nobody is safe from the threat of being laid off.

To all you knockers of the unemployed and your views on how easy it is to get a job.
Does this mans commitment not prove to you just how difficult the job market is? Here is a man doing everything you all say will get him into work but it hasn't.
What do you think the explanation is for that?

No he isn't. Despite constantly being told he is 'overqualified' he has not take the simple step of dumbing down his CV. He doesn't want to make it seem like he has done nothing with his working life, ie, he doesn't want to appear less than what he is.

His pride is stopping him getting a job, nothing else.

He is a she and why should I make my 20 years experience look like 2 years?

Will the question not be 'I see you were a supervisor at your last job and you haven't done the job of one here on your CV'?

Or 'Why have you not learnt how to do this'? Or 'Why have you not progressed in 20 years'?

If a job says we only want someone with TWO YEARS experience no amount of culling on the CV will make it look like I have only 2 years experience!!

Oh yes and how do you know in advance that the job is a junior one when it makes no mention or it and reads like they want someone with EXPERIENCE!!

To call a job STAFF ACCOUNTANT does not sound like a person with two years experience to me but maybe you as you are soooooooooooo cleaver can tell me that it is a junior job!

If ever there was somebody searching for an angle to bash the unemployed then here it is, your statement is ridiculous.

Not at all, I haven't based the unemployed. I have pointed out that this particular poster has screamed about being "told" they are over qualified and then refusing to amend their CV.

They would want you to believe that for the past 4 years every job they have applied for has turned out to be a trap where they secretly want people with no experience.

Her unemployment is her own doing, and she does a disservice to the many jobseekers, unemployed or otherwise, who seek help and reassurance.

My own doing? How dare you!

I was made redundant so how was that my fault? 3 of us lost our jobs. Was it all our faults the company closed sites down? What do you think?

You wont get a reply from me anymore and enjoy your internship

When you one day have no job maybe think back to now and your !!!!!! attitude!

Take the dates off your CV when applying for more "junior" roles or roles not requiring the full depth of your experiences. Then at least you have the chance to meet them and impress at interview without them deciding you've been working too long.

How do I know they are junior roles? For example one was paying £33k and I was horrified when the agency said it was for a junior and I went back to the advert to re read it & one was 'Staff Accountant' - Junior they are not

Just some examples of adverts that are miss leading. One even said 'why this role is excellent'

I only have the last 13 years on my CV covers 4 jobs
