How does a Government create more jobs? Tell employers 'you will take on 10 new people or else?

Spending creates no jobs and or manufacturing in whatever field but they need the orders first to do so.

You can never have full employment and that's a fact.

The government should go out there and sell themselves and hring work into the country. Fly the flag for Britain. They are also cutting jobs too, how many job centres offer the claimant a job.

Totally agree with op. Its just getting worse and worse how they are treating jobseekers. Whatever happened to calling it unemployment benefit or the dole.

Because you shouldn't 'benefit' from being 'unemployed'

It is an 'allowance to seek work'

Perhaps an idea would be to pay the amount of effort put into seeking work?

No there are not enough jobs and I totally agree that you cannot just click and send the same C.V. you have to make sure you are selling yourself to the employer.

I am sure in China they don't pay staff anywhere near as much as even our NMW.

Have you seen some of the factories in China for example?

What makes you think I am skimming Job sites? you don't know anything about me, and you certainly don't know what I do to apply for Jobs.

That might be the case but what ever you do do it isn't filling up 35 hours a week otherwise you wouldn't have raised the original question.

AP007 really impressed with how you are trying to find a job. From the hospitality industry myself and in many areas the industry is booming though may be not in your area. Have you thought about offering to work for one of your larger employers for free/work experience. What with the higher labour turnover compared to other industries you would then be in the right place when a vacancy comes up.

Hope you get a job soon

I do accounts and there is not that much turnover in that field if its a good large company. My vast experience goes against me and you may have seen me quoting on here some of the replies I have had in recent months for LARGE UK companies who say the job wont be enough for me and I'd get bored etc. Seems these companies rate themselves very highly but only want to take on staff with a little experience. Yes it may be as they see me as only taking it as a stop gap but that goes for anyone who gets any job. They all may leave at some point and that cant be predicted.

I know offering to work for free in an accounts team wont really work as we had offers from staff members children to do work experience at y last job in the holidays but we had no extra work for them so had to turn them all down.

I know about all the new hotel and restaurant openings at the moment and two in particular have advertised the same job 4 times and still cant fill it but they wont interview me. The hotel says I have no hotel experience and the restaurant say I have too much experience but I wonder why they cant fill the roll if the job is so great.

I would offer to work for free for a week if someone was to offer me a job to prove myself (proof wont be needed however haha)

I expect many of us feel the same way AP. I'd gladly do a weeks 'freebie' if it could lead to something more permanent.
