I must have posted thousands of replies in that time then but still have never said I cant get on the net.

    Thousands?
Why say how "difficult" it is to get to a free source of internet then?

Yes thousands if I have been posting non stop since mid day.

I said people on JSA had to pay for a phone and a net connection and you all chip in and say the net is free. I see no where at all where I live where it's free.

it is an unemployment benefit first a foremost. giving it a different name doesnt change that.

Well said, jobseekers allowance lol. We are on the dole.

So not thousands at all then. Silly thing to say. Where do you live?

My jsa advisor is a hitler and very incompetent. He thinks if he continually makes life hard i will sign off. Its nothing to do with helping you get a job its about bullying you.

My work programme advisor was very nice, genuinely tried to help and didnt act like a hitler.

i hope my advisor loses his job,
Perhaps they're more robust with claimants who have been claiming a long time? Out of interest, how would this theory fit with how long have you been claiming?
  • you have always been expected to be looking for work. the point i am getting at is because its called jobseekers allowance we get people taking liberties and saying its actually payment for jobseeking. they say the clue is in the name.

No, it's money paid with specific job seeking conditionality. Here's some of the relevant ones which you're overlooking.
To get Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) you must:

be 18 or over but below State Pension age - there are some exceptions if you’re 16 or 17
    not be in full-time education
be in England, Scotland or Wales
be able and available for work
    be actively seeking work

work on average less than 16 hours a week
    go to a JSA interview
    JSA interview

To complete your claim you must go to an interview at your local Jobcentre. If you don’t, you won’t get any JSA. If you apply online, you’ll get a text or phone call within 2 working days to arrange this.

At the interview you have to agree things like:

what steps you can take to find work - eg improving your skills
how you can improve your chances of getting a job - eg get help on writing a CV, preparing for interviews, looking for work
This is called a ‘Jobseeker’s Agreement’. You can take someone with you to a JSA interview.

Your JSA may be stopped if you don’t follow your agreement and can’t give a good reason.

The point is most people have Internet already so it doesn't cost any more and can't be claimed to be a barrier to job seeking.

How were they paying for that before? Yes that's right a salary which was a lot more than £71 a week I bet.

It could be claimed it you have had the line cut off.

Then there are the ones who don't have a pc as when I was at the WP you would be surprised to see the amount of people who had no email address and couldn't even use one.

If it was phone line/broadband or food some people would have to make a choice.

I sit in the cold as my choice so I can pay the bill.

Have to say I think you're wrong.

The use of specific language is deliberate. It narrows the the scope of the situation. JSA is paid to people actively seeking work and meeting the terms of their contract/agreement. In the same way that ESA Support Group is paid to people who are unable to work for a specific (set of) reason(s).

When statute or a contract are wrtten in nebulous terms - lawyers have a field day because being in the right may depend on nothing more than the ability to argue a case.

When you talk about 'the amount the government says you need to live on' you need to add 'if you meet the criteria for receipt of the benefit' because that £71 odd applies to other benefits too.

I bet there's plenty more that are unemployed, some for a long time yet still have broadband.

They may well 'claim' they've had the line cut off when they haven't which shows the lengths some will go to to avoid seeking work.

You've posted many posts about how it's not possible to find free internet where you are. Whether that's true or not it's irrelevant to you because you have internet access.
