Need help with car dealer lies

Went in today
Spent 20 minutes arguing with the manager.
He absolutely refused to give a refund. He offered to repair it and get it through the MOT within 14 days if I bought it in Monday.
However they wouldn't agree to a courtesy car.
Then when my Mum's boyfriend said he thought the business was a disgrace, the guy turned round and said after that comment I won't be repairing your car.
I recorded the conversation on my phone aswell0 -

Is there any wonder that many people have no faith in car dealers. The Op has been treated disgracefully but most of us could have guessed it would have gone down like it has this morning.
I hope you get it sorted OP but it may be a long drawn out battle0 -

How will that help the OP
granted it may stop others buying from there, but unlikely if its a small dealer in the middle of nowhere (that's the impression I get)0 -

the only thing that will help the OP is to put the car on the drive and start court proceedings. he's obviously being given the runaround they have no intention of repairing the car at all anyway and they couldn't care less.0 -

Sadly that does seem to be the case0 -
Tax the car and park it outside their place (on a public road) with a big sign in the window screen explaining the story of your car..0

Report to trading standards, then start court proceedings. All your base are belong to us.0

Call your local paper too. Make some noise. Nothing like bad press to provide some motivation. You've tried the nice route. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

I'm going to ring them again Monday to see if I can get the air bag part fitted and get the MOT sorted.
If they refuse that I will send them a letter by recorded delivery, I believe they have 14 days to then repair the car, then if they don't I can they take them to a small claims court.
However I've read on the Citizens advise website that you must tell companies before you record phone calls and they have to agree with it to be used in court, this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If they knew I was recording the phone calls they would have acted a lot differently on the phone, and they obviously would object to me using the recordings in court. Do anyone know if theres any exceptions to this? If the recordings I have prove they are in the wrong surely I can use them in court.0
