Anyone know much about them they seem to have a pedigree somewhere especially bike tyres?
Maxxis is taiwanese, and seem to be an average budget tyre.
They get medum reviews on

Probably wouldn't be my first choice, but you could do worse.0 -
The ones National Tyres do are OK. Not the very cheapest but the next step up. Barum?
No they're not. I had some on for 3 weeks on a Ford Capri. Took them off before I killed myself. It would powerslide out of a roundabout even on a hot clear sunny summer day. And thats a Capri with a gutless engine, not a V6.0 -
I have now done over 500 miles on the first budget tyres since i put Nankang NS2's on my Subaru Legacy back in 2006.
They were a decent hard wearing tyre the Nankang and felt much better than the Bridgstnes it came with.
These Save tyres are ok in the wet, felt more secure than the Pirelli P6000's the car had on back in 2008, but i have noticed a reduction in fuel economy of 3/4mpg.
And mikey72 then posted on another thread that the Costco offer i was waiting for has come up within a fortnight of me getting four tyres!
I am seriously considering cutting my losses on the Sava tyres as they are noisy when turning sharply at low speed, not squealing, they just feel course through the wheel.
With the Costco offer i can get Primacy Michelins for around £67 a corner these budgets cost just under £60 a corner, no contest if the offer was advertised two weeks ago i would have gone for Michelin at Costco.
I could always keep the cheapies in the shed for emergency use, i have read that they work well in cold temperatures and snow, they do have a very wide open tread pattern, much different to the old Intenasa, i didn't think they would have changed the tread much when adding a HP to the end of thename.
They also have a very sift compound, making them comfy around town. But as they are made in Slovakia what is the chance they have a compound more in line with the climate of that country and the roads there, isn't Slovakia colder than the UK most of the time? Or do they just get harsher winters?0 -
I find it exceptionally weird that every time I need a new tyre on my car this thread is bumped....
Come on, which one of you is watching me? lol0 -

Was wondering how they would turn out.
Just musing, 500 miles maybe isn't enough to scrub them in properly, my pick didn't attain full grip for nigh on 2000 miles and truck tyres can take about 5000.
Maybe give them another 500 before you decide to replace them?, i understand how you are tempted by the Costco offer though and won't want to miss it.0 -

I can, its Antecs:

This is his ebay shop:

Bit gutted really, used to work in Leek so made it economical to nip into Macc at lunchtime, but don't work there anymore so its not practical to use him. Have had quite a few tyres from there over the years.0 -
If your looking for new tyres use tyre quote, your local garages will quote you direct making it really easy to compare prices and garage location. I saved £90 on two tyres, brilliant service! 10/10! They even text prices to my mobile.

Sorry to (yet again) bump up a past thread.
I've just brought a new car and 3 of the tyres are worn on the inner edge (tracking was out, just had this corrected) and they only have 4mm depth left so I'm looking to buy 4 new ones in around 2-4 months.
Whats the best type of tyre & at a low price (I dont like really cheap budgets, they caused me to crash in an old car).
The tyre size is 195/60H15 and I'd probably be happy spending £65 per tyre, I've read alot of reviews and I dont know which type of tyre to go for, I do a lot of driving in winter & the wet so a mixed tyre would be ideal.
I spoke to my local garage and he said that more expensive tyres are not worth it and to just buy budgets, which he could supply at £52.75 per tyre (I don't belive this for a second)
Edit: I've just found this tyre on Etyres, is this a good brand & a decent price? http://www.etyres.co.uk/car-tyres-uk/detail?productId=118880 -
Kumho are good around that price range.0
