I have had a full set of Hero tyres (205/50/16 87w) on a 1997R Passat TDi for almost a year now, they are great tyres, amazing grip in the wet.
Had one puncture repaired, and its been fine.
Thinking about getting a set for my new(ish) car 1996N Golf GTi 16v from ebay, item no 190399491862, £146 + £12 p&p for a full set. £39.50 a tyre! If you are in Macclesfield the seller will fir for free.
Anyone know how much garages charge for fitting/balancing tyres?? Would appreciate any garage names in Edinburgh / Lothians area.

I think the standard rate is £10 - £15 per corner. Of course getting all four done it must be worth haggling over. If it was me I would be trying to get it done for £30.
If you go onto the likes of Mytyres then you can normally find a list of fitting places. Not sure if Blackcircles also have a list available worth a look.0 -

how very strange, this thread has come full circle (excuse the pun!)
The guy in Macc is now the garage we use, and we use the Hero tyres.....0 -
Got conned into a pair of Komet tyres by Budget tyres, worst grip I have ever had, just replaced with Vredestein Sportrac 3 from Tom Tully tyres in Speke (£138 for 2 inc Vat with free tracking adjustment), car (honda civic) is transformed. goes round corners like a Go-cart.0

and we never did see any Velocity tyres ever again
I still mourn those tyres, best ones we ever had.

I'm looking for All Terrain tyres for my L200. The trouble is they're pretty big and all I can find are BFGs which, although an excellent tyre, are immensley expensive.
Can anyone do better? The size I'm after is 255/60R180 -
Personally Id spend as much as you can on tyres, they are the only thing keeping you on the road. Budget tyres (ditch finders as we call them) are cheap for a reason imo
etyers.co.uk have always done a good job for me and they even come to your house or work address and fit them for you. The last tyres I got where Goodyear eagle F1s which cost £220 plus fitting for 4 x 45/215/R15.0 -

I think etyres have lost it a bit recently.
I know tyres and gone up, but even so your price must have been a while ago, they're only stocking Toyo tyres in that size at over £400.
I've found tyre shopper, and blackcircles have the best prices now, even beating my last quote from Costco.0 -
Thinking about it the last time I used them was probably around 20 24 months ago, god thats gone fast lol0
