Buyer Beware, They are back again, eBay sellers selling Amazon

  • The only difference with any other business though is that buyers can see how much the seller is earning.

I don't think this quite hits the nail on the head.

The difference is that the buyer can see from the Amazon logos on the box and packaging, even if there is no invoice (which in many cases there is) - , the buyer sees that the item came from, not another wholesaler, but in fact the wrong retailer.

But the amazon packaging will give it away surely?

Yes but the buyer won't know how much the seller paid which appears to be the issue that some people have with this as a business model.

As a seller though this business model worries me as you have no control over important things like stock control and despatch times, get a couple of late despatches or the dreaded 'out of stock' message and your stars are trashed.

I have resold Amazon items before, about 8 years ago but I would order the items in and only list them on a BIN when I had them physically in my possession and ready to reship. It worked for me as at that time there was a minimum spend on Amazon, so I could buy 4 of this particulat DVD, cover the postage and resell at a very generous profit. Obviously the packaging was my own as well.

I drop-ship stuff on ebay, but I drop-ship from Chinese suppliers found via AliExpress. Nothing wrong in doing that as I make reference to it in my listings.

If I am buying from Amazon to sell-on via ebay/ebid, then I order the item & only list on ebay when I have the item.

I don't want to conduct any business with Amazon. If anything dropped on my mat with their branding having come from an ebay seller, they'd be getting negative feedback.

if you send an Amazon item as a gift it costs no more than usual and they do not include an invoice.
In theory. We had a wedding list on Amazon, all the items were sent as gifts, I'd say half turned up with invoices with the amounts on. By the look of the feedback of the seller mentioned here plenty of his items are turning up with Amazon invoices.

I hope you're not one of my customers, I reuse a lot of their packaging for sending out Ebay orders.

I've used Amazon's fulfillment centre in the past and I think it is possible to use it alongside Ebay and other sales platforms. So you can sell an item on Ebay and have it dispatched by Amazon as part of their service.

  • I think most people can see the difference between all the many form of drop shipping and what is going on here without too much analysis.

We've all bought something one place and sold it another, or in business found an item retailing cheaper than we can get it wholesale and done some "wheeling and dealing".

This is just in a different league.

The only thing happening here wholesale, is the wholesale ripping off of customers who nearly without exception would be appalled by the business practice of this operation, or "scam", in my opinion.

Could be money laundering/clearing down dud cards/converting Amazon vouchers into cash

I'm intelligent enough to know when an item has been directly sent from Amazon. Admittedly my post didn't maybe spell it out, but in terms of the context of the thread, I would have thought it obvious what I meant.
