  • Two minutes later im handed that tin of peas

This is where yours fails. After waiting considerably longer than usual, someone from a completely different shop comes down the road and hands me a more expensive tin of peas.

It's a very important part of the whole post that I made, is that the tin of peas doesn't come from the shop you are waiting outside of.

  • Unfortunately most of those facts aren't correct. That's a bit of a problem when posting... facts.

So from all of your wisdom, all I've really gleaned is the fact that you personally would be totally happy buying your vitamins and minerals and health supplements from this person, knowing that your stuff will come, not from them, but from a completely random seller of which you haven't had the opportunity to choose and could have any type of feedback or customer service rankings you don't know, just some random seller.
As long as I got what I paid for, i.e. the vitamins I orderd delivered within the specified timeframe, of course I'd be happy.

It would be good if some of the analogies on this thread could include the fact selling items you don't have in stock is against ebay t&cs
  • Both companies are as bad as each other. If you don't wish to buy from one for some reason, chances are it's a reason not to buy from the other either.

Ebay rules state you should have the item in hand, but what makes this worse is the fact it's from a retailer and far more risky than dropshipping from a dropshippers.

However, it's silly that people are annoyed that sellers are doing this. It takes 2 seconds to check Amazon and if you have ever been online or turned on the TV or radio or even walked through a town centre there is no way you couldn't possibly know about Amazon so there's no excuse not to check it. If you don't wish to buy from Amazon...well, it's like I said at the start of this post.

I'd say in most cases people are simply annoyed that the seller got it cheaper and not the fact that it is from Amazon. But all sellers get things cheaper anyway or else they wouldn't be able to stay in business.

    Ok.

Two minutes later someone walks down the road towards me and says "Order 41?" I nod my head and they pass me a tin of peas that I had ordered. The tin has a sticker on the bottom......(refer to previous post for rest of story)

Im not sure where your getting this "waiting considerably longer then usual" from.

Your post sums it up nicely. :)

Well, it's not important but I have read the feedback, and some people are waiting weeks only to find the item was out of stock anyway. Of course our Israeli guy doesn't know when items pop in or out of stock does he?

I'd read up on everything posted since my last offering of yesterday and agree with those who say no law is being broken. However, I'm still uncomfortable with the thought of someone offering wares on ones site which they are really ordering in from another. I see it as sharp practice.

It's like the adverts which used to appear in newspaper classified in the 80's and are now banned which said: "How to make a fortune for just £10" . You replied to the advert and got a single page of writing which basically said:

To make your fortune, simply place this advert in as many local newspapers as you can. "How to make a fortune for just £10."

It wasn't illegal to do it at the time but it is now.

I think, for the very same reasons, the practice of offerings goods for sale in this fashion from a 3rd party website without declaring where they come from, should also be made illegal. I wouldn't be that surprised to find out if it is actually illegal already as the vendors in such cases are not being open and honest with potential buyers.

I wish we could get a comment on this from somebody who knows commercial law.

    ballisticbrian,

any chance you can answer the questions?

Why is it a rip off?
    How is it a scam?
Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!
  • Thing is, I posted this on here to help consumers, and what I have is a mixture of replies from folk who don't understand the concept of what the post is about and other business folk who are just interested in whether it is a valid business opportunity or are looking at in in a legalistic way. This just completely disregards why it would be posted to a consumer site and the whole intention behind it. One also can't help wonder why people who "only care they get their item and don't care from where it comes" are really doing on a site like moneysavingexpert at all.
