Forewarned is forearmed maybe, but only if the OP had titled the post as
"Buyers beware, you can get items cheaper if you do a bit of research first"

How is this thread going to help anyone. Unless you know the sellers history you will not know where the item comes from or if they are dropshippers.
And, at the end of the day the buyer agreed a price, was happy to pay and even might get a bargain.

    Dropshipping is not all bad!
People who fail to research and then complain about their own un-forced actions are!

I haven't complained about anything. I've given what I consider to be a reasoned opinion. That is all. No need for you to take such exception.

No offence was intended towards yourself, just pointing out that in my opinion the thread serves no help to buyers with out any prior knowledge of the seller.
Lose is to not win......Loose is not tight......get it right!
  • This practice is called 'Flipping', and many online gurus sell courses instructing would-be ebay/amazon sellers how to do it - I've had emails and flyers sent to me several times over the past couple of years offering to relieve me of £50+ to find out how to do it. Seems far too much effort to keep up with all the research to me (plus there's a huge risk of items being out of stock when you go to order them to fulfil a sale).

Interestingly, from what I can gather most of the 'flipping' goes in the other direction - Amazon sellers finding goods cheaper on ebay, advertising them for sale, and then getting the ebay seller to dispatch to the Amazon customer. I wonder if they run less of a risk of negative feedback? Lots of ebay sellers don't include an invoice with their goods and dispatch in plain packaging compared to Amazon's obviously logo-laden boxes.

The lesson for buyers is always to check both sites before making a purchase. Too many people still think ebay = cheap and Amazon = quality.

Am i the only person who is just happy to get what i paid for?

Last year i sold a second hand CD - it was a new release, so went for £9.99. I came to post and could not find it - so went to Sainsburys and bought a new one.

Buyer complained as it was price stickered £8.99 - and demanded £1 back. I pointed out its nothing to do with the buyer what the sellers pays - and stood my ground.

Another auction, which clearly pointed out that the item was price stickered £15 - went for £20 via auction. Buyer then demanded £5 back.

And finally, an item i sold was damaged - so i ordered one direct to the buyer from Amazon - instead of letting them down. Does that make me a bad person?

You pay - you get what you paid for - thats where it should end. Some people are just pathetic.

And you never know - the Ebay seller and Amazon seller could actually be the same person.
  • I've just realised now why you lot are so touchy about me being critical of this seller - you are all drop shippers - right? Hitting a few raw nerves eh? I can see now what is going on here.

  • Fair enough that you want to stick to your morals, however it appears the majority of the people in this thread, myself included, don't see anything morally wrong with people drop-shipping.

Considering I've attracted a whole bunch of drop shippers, it's not surprising is it? duh

Priceless! Just because the majority don't agree with you, we have to be drop shippers.

Are you saying you are NOT a drop shipper?

I'll refer you to a previous post of mine.
Im a consumer and totally understand the concept.
  • Word is back on the data protection act. If the buyer is the consumer, and the seller does not specifically state in his terms and conditions that he is passing the name and address on to a third party for the purposes of processing the order then he is in breach of the Data Protection Act 1998. So you can draw your own conclusions as to whether this seller is breaking the law or not and not simply take my word for it.
