No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries November 2013

  • Couldn't resist this quick bit of maths:

Shampoo & conditioner in sachets available as samples: 8ml in most, so this amount allowed as average use.
8ml is roughly a teaspoon (5ml) and a half, quite a generous amount poured into your palm.

Allowing 8ml per use, 1 250ml bottle of product will last for 31 washes or 10 weeks at 3 washes per week.
10 weeks is a little over 2 months, so by alternating with just 1 250 ml bottle of another brand, each bottle will last around 4/5 months... so 6 months isn't too far off the mark, Babafette.

Get well soon Rosemary.. lots of bugs doing the rounds.

I've seen you post this before, and think it's very cool, but no way would 8ml do my hair! I always end up using two sachets (often different ones!) so I must be the person who skews the average up :P

Quick question, I think I saw on here that a few people got the LIB Glamour box. I am really tempted because I would like the HD brow palette but I am blonde and think it is meant for brunettes? What do people think of it that got it?

Just wanted to share my birthday present to myself - a make up lesson with a professional make up artist. A fab couple of hours with some brilliant tips and tricks and some really good recommendations for make up.
She suggested Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara, Maybelline Gel Eyeliner and 24 Hour Tattoo eyeshadow - as well as lip gloss/stick and brushes from Eyes Lips Face.
Her view was you should spend on moisturiser and cleanse properly - although she also recommended Bioderma Crealine Micelle Solution for a fall into bed cleanse.
Great fun and a way of avoiding spending huge amounts on products which don't work - which I wish I'd know before I bought Dior stuff - not loving it at all!
UU Champneys Shower Gel - WBA when my stash has gone down a dozen or so!

That sounds fun, I love the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner, I use it at the outer 1/3 of my top lash line right next to the lashes and it makes them look so thick but not obvious and it doesn't flake or smudge at all.

I am using a Sleek brow kit which comes with three colours and a brow wax there is a blonde shade in that and you can use the other colours as eyeshadow/eyeliner, or you could just go for a matt dark blonde/light brown eyeshadow and apply with an angled brush.

    Two more uu

Joop Miss Wild 2ml - WNBA, I never even noticed it so it can't be very strong/distinctive.

Clinique Moisture Surge - 30ml - WBA I have a 15ml pot in the stash but for now I will be replacing it with Clarins Multi Active Night.

    Also have two ins

Imperial Leather Foamburst - Spicy Ginger & Orange and another one in Bewitching Blackberry & Fig.

Six months feels like a lifetime when the shampoo does nothing for my hair though. It gets a bit disheartening after a while so I usually crack open a new bottle and then I end up with lots of open bottles which get used up very slowly. :(

I hope the pedicure perked you up a bit and you're feeling better now Rosemary.

I did this quite a lot as well, after a few months my hair gets too used to a shampoo, and so I have to switch round if I want my locks to look shiny again. If I want rid of a shampoo I use it as shaving lather and mix a few tablespoons worth in with the soap. There's no harm in just putting it aside for later too. A 250ml bottle is just the perfect size for me, it's when I buy the bigger bottles I have a problem.

I had a box of pore remover strips, but I seem to have lost the last one, so I'm going to declare them as OUT. They were superdrugs own, and I WBA, but I'm not in a rush.

Thanks VALM - good to know as I don't have too much left in the way of cleansers, mainly miniatures. Perhaos one for my Xmas wish list. I may even place a 2nd a debenhams order whilst the GWP is on as I'd like to try the absolute eye serum - anyone else tried this?

maggiesmummy - sounds like lots of fun!

Could you donate the ones that don't work for you, Babafette, or haven't you discovered one that does?
Unfortunately I have yet to discover a shampoo which I absolutely love! I have long hair which gets greasy quickly but I also have quite dry ends and an easily irritated scalp. This is part of the reason I switch shampoos so often. :o
Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.... :/

Thanks dolly I will have a look at it. I am currently using an MUA one which is ok but I don't love it. Hadn't thought of using the other shades as eyeshadows, great idea thanks!

Placed a small order on REN as there was a 20% off code. Never tried there products before but have wanted to for ages.

I do the exact same thing, one is never enough especially for conditioner. I wash my hair everyday so get through a lot of shampoos and conditioner but far more conditioner as I use 2 to 3 times the amount compared to shampoo.

    UU's
Caudalie foaming cleanser WNBA I liked this to start with but it seem to last forever and I did not find it that effective.

RMK cleansing balm WBA I actually really liked this product just wish I had another but I am banned from buying any.

Youki hi bath ballistic WNBA I had kept this far too long and it just sunk to the bottom of the bath, i did really like the scent, it will teach me not to save things.

Elemis shower cream WNBA unless it wax a GWP fine but there are others I prefer
  • Just a teeny UU today...

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum 2ml - this was a GWP but I WNBA because it didn't seem rich enough for a serum, it was very light and didn't feel at all thirst quenching!

Sitting on my hands as there's a new beauty box out from The Telegraph.
Also, for tomorrow only Space NK have a free GWP but the minimum spend is £150 . The GWP does contain a £50 voucher, though.

Why do they do all these offers so near to Christmas?

Oh, I have ordered some Royal Jelly bits and a Ragdale Hall kit from M&S as they have a glitch on at the mo (see Grabbit board) - £53.50 worth for £16.75 :p They are Christmas gifts, though.
