feeling very sorry for myself:(DH came home last night and half way through dinner said he thought the apple he had at lunch had given him an upset tummy,he left half his food and went to bed early.I stayed up then started to feel ill and ended up sleeping on the setee(in between throwing up:(:(:(....shame as a nice dinner)

now feel like I have been run over by a steamroller and am due to have my pedi at 12.30:eek:............can,t afford to cancel as they still want paying!
last time he brought a bug home I was off work for a week(of course he is fine now and was not even sick!)
  • Couldn't resist this quick bit of maths:

Shampoo & conditioner in sachets available as samples: 8ml in most, so this amount allowed as average use.
8ml is roughly a teaspoon (5ml) and a half, quite a generous amount poured into your palm.

Allowing 8ml per use, 1 250ml bottle of product will last for 31 washes or 10 weeks at 3 washes per week.
10 weeks is a little over 2 months, so by alternating with just 1 250 ml bottle of another brand, each bottle will last around 4/5 months... so 6 months isn't too far off the mark, Babafette.

Get well soon Rosemary.. lots of bugs doing the rounds.

Hmmm... you're not taking into consideration the "oh bloomin eck" moment when, still half asleep, you squeeze what seems like half a bottle into your palm...and it still takes me "forever" to get through a bottle!:rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you feel better soon rosemary xxx

moneylessmac that sounds like a great deal on the Elemis, do you mind me asking where it was from as I'd like to get my OH some men's stuff for Christmas?

Online at Debenhams - you have to buy 2 products though - I bought 2 of the mens products for DH as Christmas gifts.

Not wishing to enable Sundaysgirl but it still adds to basket - 1 item must be skincare though.

Thanks moneyless mac - it wasn't adding the GWP to basket yesterday but it did today so I have placed the order - both gifts for OH and the GWP for meeeee! :T

VALM - my skin is normal but with a tendency towards an oily t-zone. I've convinced myself the Elemis caused it as I used the Philisophy this morning and my face has felt fine today. Going to persevere with the Elemis until the weekend nevertheless as I really liked it!

Mine is mostly normal with an oily t-zone although it has not been this way for a long time since I started using Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser. Maybe you should give this a go when you have finished all your other cleansers.

Wow! Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I haven't done my list yet, but I did have a peek into the stash to remind myself of what a horrendous task I have ahead.

Probably the worst is my stack of smellies I brought back from our holiday a couple of weeks ago. We were away for 10 days in a lovely hotel and if we (read: I as DH has sensitive skin) didn't use the whole tube of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel etc then they'd put ANOTHER one in the bathroom anyway. So, I started another little collection "for when we go away somewhere" such as staying over at a friend's house. Yeah, yeah. We'll have to stay away for a long time.

I'll have to check out the acronyms.
WIBA - Would I Buy Again??
    UU - Used Up?

I'm sure I'll get the hang of things soon...

Yes, those acronyms are right. When I shopped in my stash the other night I took out an Elemis Nourishing Milk shower cream which I'm not very impressed by. It is very foamy which I thought meant that a product has cheap ingredients in it? Am I right here? Anyway, whilst foraging around I found a few travel sizes that have not been opened and can now earmark for our weekend away in York on 13 December. Did want to go down to London but can't get onto the Warner Bros. Tour when we would like to.
i never got on with the melting cleansing gel, it sent my skin crazy and i got loads of spots. I tried the balm though and my skin was fine with it! i was worried they'd use the same gel to milk formula and it was something in that but who knows!

Thanks for posting this evilsquid. Perhaps I will be ok with the new balm after all.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Six months feels like a lifetime when the shampoo does nothing for my hair though. It gets a bit disheartening after a while so I usually crack open a new bottle and then I end up with lots of open bottles which get used up very slowly. :(

I hope the pedicure perked you up a bit and you're feeling better now Rosemary.
Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.... :/
  • Just wanted to share my birthday present to myself - a make up lesson with a professional make up artist. A fab couple of hours with some brilliant tips and tricks and some really good recommendations for make up.
She suggested Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara, Maybelline Gel Eyeliner and 24 Hour Tattoo eyeshadow - as well as lip gloss/stick and brushes from Eyes Lips Face.
Her view was you should spend on moisturiser and cleanse properly - although she also recommended Bioderma Crealine Micelle Solution for a fall into bed cleanse.
Great fun and a way of avoiding spending huge amounts on products which don't work - which I wish I'd know before I bought Dior stuff - not loving it at all!
UU Champneys Shower Gel - WBA when my stash has gone down a dozen or so!

Could you donate the ones that don't work for you, Babafette, or haven't you discovered one that does?

I hear where you are coming from. I don't think I'll ever buy a bottle over 200-250 ml again, there's so much stuff I've ended up giving away. Bulk isn't a bargain if you can't enjoy using it.

A friend gave me a Pantene 2 in 1 anti dandruff shampoo that is 400ml, it's fine but I wouldn't have chosen it ordinarily.

I've got my Avon Moroccan/Argan Oil shampoo to alternate with this, plus I would love to try another solid shampoo but not L*sh :o

So that's the next 6/8 months taken care of!
