TV in my bedroom

  • I have a Cello 32" in my bedroom. Bought from M&S a few years ago now for about £200. Also has a built in dvd player and a home media thing built in so I can stream movies from another computer in the house, or stream from lovefilm. It also has Iplayer built in.

    5 year guarantee too.

I dont have a tv these days but when I was in my teens I had a tv in my bedroom and used to watch tv at night before falling asleep. Nothing wrong with having a tv in the bedroom as far as Im concerned. Im aware that a lot of people think that electrical equipment should be removed from a bedroom but as someone who used to suffer badly from insomnia, if I had had a tv Id probably have watched it in the evening as I wouldnt have been sleeping anyway.

As it is, these days I maybe watch one hour a week on Iplayer so a tv certainly isnt a necessity for me.

As for falling asleep with glasses on, I wear contacts you can sleep in, mainly because Im very short sighted but it would solve the problem of falling asleep with the TV on.
  • We got a Samsung UE22F5410 before summer, great wee TV. Freeview HD, catch-up on all major channels plus Netflix (which I use a lot) and loads of other features. Tesco were selling them below £200 recently. I loved the smart hub and features so much I sold the big TV and bought the massive PS60F5500 for the living room - best thing ever! (I had £700 JL vouchers so it would've been rude not to :)

Had some supermarket own brand TV/DVD combi before, it was always a pain. Poor picture, terrible remote, terrible UI, eventually the DVD packed in so it was virtually useless. Never buying a combi again.

We have a 38" LCD TV, which has HD, built in Freeview & DVD set up in the bedroom with a virgin box, the sound is reasonable though its not essential for us to have a surround sound in the bedroom, as it is mostly just the mornings it is on to wake us up. OH occasionally may watch pre recorded programmes in the evening before bed but rarely.

Nuffink wrong with watching telly in bed. In fact the telly in my bedroom probably gets the most usage!

Watching TV in bed can interrupt your sleep patterns...

  • Blimey I couldn't survive without my tv in the bedroom!!! Maybe I am just a geek though! My other half installed it on the wall with a fancy swinging extending bracket thing and we've got our sky box and ps3 plugged in for hardcore gaming sessions.....yes I'm really sad but there's something quite fun about being tucked up in bed of a winter evening watching the tv!

Oh and I should add it's done nothing detrimental to our hehem 'night time activities' because I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant :)

I would personally recommend Samsung only because I've always had Samsung tv's and have never had any problems with them. If you've got a Richer Sounds near you and can wait until their Boxing Day sale they put some pretty good bargains on.

I'm sure there's a film where someone can't find their glasses so goes to the cinema in prescription swimming goggles. You could get some of those to nod off in, although you'd have some funny marks on your face in the morning!
Now that could definitely scupper your sex life!

  • I'd definitely recommend getting one that has a snooze setting so that it turns itself off automatically.
