Just wondering is it normal to ask for your salary/household income /mortgage payment/other outgoings on a credit card application? I did have an aqua card and sure it asked for my salary but nothing else.
Did anyone not answer any of these questions? I started the application, but was a little reluctant when I got to this section so holding off for now....
Thanks
If you want them to lend you money, they can ask what they like to acertain the risk of lending you that money ... and if so, how much to possibly lend you.
It's up to you if you wish to disclose such information, but if the field is mandatory then you cannot apply unless you complete the field.
Note that if you input anything that is knowingly incorrect, then you would be commiting fraud by submitting such application.
Fraud is a criminal act, the maximum penalty for which could lead to imprisonment for up to 10 years.
(For some reason, MSE'ers often seem to want to know the consequences of knowingly breaking the law - perhaps a reflection of the type of individuals multi-millionaire, Dr Lewis is attracting to his website nowadays?)0 -

True, they can ask whatever they want. I've had several credit cards before and never been asked this before though... Some of it does not appear to be mandatory but wondered if not disclosing would affect the application. I'm quite picky about giving out personal info and like to limit it as much as possible. I personally think that is pretty sensible.
Don't worry I don't plan to lie. If I did I would not be worried about putting in personal info because it wouldn't be personal! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Do you mind sharing the template letter ? i have been rejected too
Its a bit fiddly for me to copy and paste the link as I'm on a tablet, but if you search for 'Credit Card Declined' or a thread similarly named by never-in-doubt they have quite an extensive template letter on there.

Thank you. The cash back is not there on mine.
I'm on the phone ...

Well, that went fairly well.
I was put on hold while she checked with someone, and it turns out I have the card without cashback.
It can't be added later, so get the other card
After a bit more discussion we closed this account, I spoke to someone in applications for a couple of minutes who said apply again online.
And that's gone through ok.
So thank you to the people here discussing this point.
I hadn't heard of Luma before, so assumed it was a new brand launch, rather than a new card from an existing brand
I'd read some of this discussion the other evening, 3 or 4 news items about the new cashback card from Luma, but although I had had a Luma webpage open which definitely mentioned cashback near the apply now button, maybe I left that while I read more, then did another Google search and ended up at the ordinary application page.
So take care folks, but it's not an unrecoverable disaster if you end up with the wrong one.
The second person did say warn that the new application wasn't guaranteed, and I worried that having the existing card might be a problem. But she checked her colleague had definitely already closed it. A few nervous moments, now wait for the post again ...0 -

Just been emailed my on-line login details this morning and credit limit is shown there. No card or PIN yet.
Anyone else know their credit limit yet?
FB.
I received an account password yesterday by email (sent user id in another email, not received yet), did you receive user id and password close together? I have just received pin but not card yet.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Hmm. I rang and activated my card after receiving it.
Next time I logged in again I found I had a message in red, 'Access to your Online Account has been changed' and a phone number.
It was freefone, so I rang it and, after being kept on hold for a very long time, was told that the card is 'under investigation' and not useable today, though it will be OK tomorrow.
Very odd.0
