New Luma 4% cashback card (supermarkets and petrol)

Should have really guessed why it took so long to process my application got a letter through the post today with a decline.
I think it may be down to debt-credit utilisation and a recent application to Amex at the beginning of last month.
Would it be worth it to submit an appeal? The only reason my debt utilisation is high is that I used my cards to partially fund a car purchase while waiting for extra funds to clear, but they will be paid off in full within the next week before the statement date.
If I do appeal, what do I say? Never thought I would be hounding a typical sub prime lender to give me one of their cards0 -
I would leave it and then try again in 6 months time.0

I've just applied for a Luma.. hope they don't take too long.
Aqua is just gone for new applicants right? I have it already so it'll continue to work with the 3% CB?0 -

Apparently people have been getting letters stating that they are withdrawing all cards in January, and that they can apply for another cashback card with them at 0.5%. However from what I have read I am led on to believe that applying for the other card will involve a fresh credit check, not simply transferring from one product to another.0 -
Well thanks to all who provided thoughts - I got the answers I needed. More reminders than answers really. Clearly it doesn't matter - and I'm very well off anyway. I was rather greedily not to mention totally unnecessarily and carelessly eying up the 4% cashback - not following one of my own guiding principles , as it happens, which is don't be greedy as it blinds you. As someone said, you win some you lose some.....and yes it WOULD have been wiser to read the fine print first!0

I'd expect you'll get a letter soon saying it'll work until January 22nd, just got my letter this morning, and other people have received it as well.
That's why I applied for this card, seems a nice alternative. As long as it gets here before 22nd January, I'm happy0 -
As I'm a stubborn mule (and found a template letter so it was half the effort) I thought I'd shoot off an appeal to them in the post at the end of the month after I've paid off my high statement balances/wait for the next statements to be generated after payment.
They've already done the search so might as well give it a go, got nothing really to lose0 -

I would do, it's an idea to check it a couple times a year.0
