As I'm a stubborn mule (and found a template letter so it was half the effort) I thought I'd shoot off an appeal to them in the post at the end of the month after I've paid off my high statement balances/wait for the next statements to be generated after payment.

They've already done the search so might as well give it a go, got nothing really to lose :)

Do you mind sharing the template letter ? i have been rejected too :(
  • I just got a letter of approval for my online application for a Luma card.

Reading the contract and pre-contract there is something I don't understand.

In the "Pre-contract credit information", in the key features of the credit product, what are those 584.23 pounds?

It says "The total amount you will have to pay. This means the amount you have borrowed plus interest and other costs". I have not borrowed anything, what is that? some example? it doesn't make sense to me...

Anyone can explain and confirm that if I repay in full every month I don't pay any commission? thanks!

Can someone please describe where the cashback summary is shown in the online account?

I mentioned cashback in passing while talking to the bloke activating, and he didn't say I'd got the wrong card, but after seeing comments above I wonder

Just wondering is it normal to ask for your salary/household income /mortgage payment/other outgoings on a credit card application? I did have an aqua card and sure it asked for my salary but nothing else.

Did anyone not answer any of these questions? I started the application, but was a little reluctant when I got to this section so holding off for now....

    Thanks

Did you read the "credit card agreement regulated by the consumer credit act 1974" on the back of the letter the card was stuck to ? The last section is "other features" which states the cash back, the same as the T&C's on the application page.

This used to be the norm. I remember when applying for credit cards 20 or so years ago some banks used to ask for a detailed breakdown of every little bit of household expenditure, monthly spend on groceries, travel to work costs etc.

It often surprises me how little information card issuers request on application forms now!

It's an affordability test, and they won't (they never have with me) demand to see proof of this, but they want to know that your income is enough to cover your expenditure and there's some left over to pay the credit card.

If the questions don't have a * next to them you don't have to answer. I filled in the big 'outgoings' box with a rough guess but ignored the rest.

Well thanks to all who provided thoughts - I got the answers I needed.

I'm sure your credit rating is still fine, and even if mildly dented it should be 100% recovered in 4 months. I think good ratings only get a little temporarily dented when you start applying for 2 or 3 cards at a time.
