The next time you have this for dinner please invite me round :D
    It sounds lovely!

It was lovely, and a nice treat too. I'll let you know when it's next on the menu - prob won't be for a while though - trying to shift the old double mountain range that seems to have sprouted just below by lower back!

i'm confused, is this even possible? too much?... there's never too much!

    See above bum comment!
Bluemoo... profiteroles? You can buy those frozen for the leave them out idea -
but plate up into little individual dishes? xx

That sounds like a good idea - where could I buy profiteroles frozen? Could I just get that from the SM?

Supper last night was herb mini sausages served with ovencooked potato discs (skins left on), mixed veg and a onion gravy.

Going out tonight - will see how my spend goes.
Having a browse for christmas pressies, then out for some drinks and a meal.
Hopefully I can keep it fairly low as with lots of parties/meals/christmas things coming up, we have already allocated most of our socialising budget.

    A-ha! Finally some money news.

    Paid council tax today

Moved excess from OH's wages into the wedding account.
    450 additional left to find.

Found out I have some money left on a HB giftcard, so will have a nose this weekend to see if I can stuff out any christmas presents. Might be a bit difficult, but we shall see.

Hi Bluemoo I thought it'd hunt out your thread and say hi

I've not read through your diary yet but will do later. You may already have one (I'll check later) but I found making a mood board for my wedding really helped. It helped me keep focused on what I wanted and to NOT spend money on items that did not match my theme. Plus that, and a picture of my dress, made it a lot easier for the hairdresser to understand the look I was going for.

Hi, I've read through your thread and enjoyed it. What type of venue is your reception in? I ask as it sounds like you are doing a lot yourself. Our venue had candleabras so I bought fake peals to dress them up.

Sorry no updates from me. :(

Been off sick from work so haven't managed to log in. Am at home now for day of rest, but feeling well enough to get on the laptop.

sleepygirl, kirstypark and laurajo - to paraphrase a post I used on the GC board,
You can build up your base meals e.g. pie/pasta/fillet/risotto/stir fry etc, and then just change the flavours depending on what you have.

I also tend to pick a meat, and then pick a country, and change from day to day so that the flavours and textures are varied which means you don't feel like you are eating the same thing

(the poster in question was asking how to plan meals and she had some fish)
Day one: English - Fish&Chips with peas
Day two: Asian - Fish thai green curry with rice with green peppers
Day three: Spanish - Fish served in a cassoulet of chickpeas and tomatoes
Day four: French - Fish steamed served with potato dauphinoise and asparagus
Day five: English - Fish pie served with mash and leeks
Day six: Italian - Pasta served with chunks of lemon basted fish and spinach
Day seven: Scandinavian - Pickled fish served with a salad.
    etc. etc.

So, I try to have a varied repetoire of dishes but the flavours are changed so that it is different

No dinner updates from me as I have been rather *greenface* and am not really eating anything currently.

Found some of my mortgage paperwork, so once I have the energy I am going to get up and get some of the details down. Probably should have done that before starting this thread, but hey ho.

Peonie - A mood board sounds like a lovely idea, I have a similar thing I guess which is a book where I jot down ideas and a spreadsheet where I put all the links of things I have seen on the internet. I also have a thread on the wedding board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4806799

Our venue is basically a big hall. Usually used to house cinema screenings. There is quite a lot we need to do to get it looking nice. We have the centrepiece cases, but what I am really struggling with is wall decoration. Basically as you enter, there is a corridor with loads of notices etc. (the usual village hall stuff) but because there are entrance doors to the actual hall, I can't just pin up tulle.

Ruight with that update, I am back off to the land of nod and pay my pilgrimage to the porcelain god. :D

At the reception venue do you think the notices could be taken off the board for the day? You could then use the notice board yourself. Maybe to display photos or even the seating chart. The edge of the board could be covered with tulle just for the day. If they don't want the notices to taken down you could pin a nice paper or card over them and display what you want on top - which actually would look even better.

What's your theme? If it's shabby chic old fashioned luggage labels pinned into the board would look great, each with a persons name and table number on. I love this stuff :-) If you PM me a link to your venue website I might get some more ideas.

Some garden centres let you hire plants and trees for the day. A couple of bay trees with ribbon around the pot would look nice at the doors.
