Hi.
Sorry for no updates - been ill with a dreadful stomach bug and been off for the last week or so.
Will update with balance totals when I get back home, as absolutely manic today trying to catch up with all the emails etc.
Quick note - Thanks Peonie - I will take a good look later.M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0 -
Peonie - that looks lovely. Currently keeping my mood board in my head as it were, but a good idea to have it pictured physically to keep on track.
I shall PM you with a google image search on the venue.
Can't move the notice boards unfortunately - but am contemplating Tulle draping. Have spoken to a decorating company but they are quoting £2k! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Mortgage Figures.
So I found out our regular monthly payment is £10 less than I though, so we have been making 221 OP, not 211 :T
Also noticed though that I didn't start OP as early as I thought, or increased the OPs when I thought I had.
Mortgage stands at £170685.76 but interest due to added on the 23rd which will take it back over 171.
*******
Have joined the 2014 mfw challenge with a target of £3000 (2652 to be made of regular OP). That means 348 to find throughout the year on various MSE ways. Wish me luck! :money:
Will be difficult with the wedding and honeymoon, but hopefully we can scrabble the money together somehow.
*******
Found locoblades AMAZING spreadsheet! Been playing around whilst I have been off, putting in silly figures!
Really trying to find a way we can get down to 100k owing in 2018 but just don't think we will be able to get there.
Anyhow, doesn't hurt to try and once the wedding is out of the way, I should be able to squirrel away the bits and bobs and at least give it a damn good go!
*******
Christmas pressies bought - just one and a half to go! Very pleased with myself! Just a few bits need to be delivered and got another thing to order. :rudolf:M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0 -
Only updated yesterday and my diary is on Page 3! It''s great to see so many others on this journey as well.
I was wondering if anyone here is 'public' about their MFW plans?
I have vaguely mentioned it to the in-laws, but they are still paying off theirs at the minimum possible amount so I think they thought we were a bit mad.

Very simple dinner last night of pecorino tricolour pasta. Had a few errands to run, so needed something quick and easy.
**********
I really must track down my mortgage statement and list that on here. Wish I had saved my second post for updates, but oh well.
Contemplating about joining the Mfit3 challenge, but not sure how I would work out how much my target would be considering the interest changes every month?

2 weeks today until christmas! :rudolf::rudolf::rudolf::rudolf::rudolf::rudolf::rudolf:

Figured out our dessert at the wedding - thanks everyone for their suggestions. In particular KolaKube whose idea was the inspiration for our choice. Eventually came in under budget as well so pretty chuffed.
Also, rings have been chosen. Just need to order them. Really pleased as another thing done, and they may too also come in significantly under budget (fingers crossed for a bit of haggling!)

Hello! Time for me to pop out of lurkerdom. My OH and I are technically still mortgage wannabes (despite our best efforts!) but we're very public about our MFW plans. I figure that the simple sentence 'we want to pay it off because it ends up saving you thousands' might be enough to trigger off the inner MFW inside other people - the difference it can make to someone's life is immense and not everyone's really even aware they can do it, so I like to shout about it.

Fair enough there are naysayers, but the OH is so money-savvy and knowledgeable about this stuff that he can tear their mocking arguments down pretty quickly; all in a very easygoing, friendly way to boot - it's quite a sight to behold! It turns out facts can prove anything
I feel for the poor people that come in contact with him in future. :rotfl:
Well done on all you wedding bargains! Hopefully that'll be me one day soon.. if the OH ever decides to make an honest woman of me!
PS. Two weeks! :ja penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0 -
Pearla*Merle - Great to see you are spreading the word (IYKWIM)!
I think , in general, it is very difficult to talk about money. We have a few convos with I-L, but they don't even tell us what they owe or how much they pay, though we are quite free with that information.
Having previously worked in the financial sector, I guess I find it easier to talk about money than most as to be honest I have heard it all, but even I wouldn't share my MFW plans except with my close family.

Yep - got quite a few wedding bargains. The key has been preparation and a lot of research. Not very exciting, but very effective.
I'm sure he will! And he would be a very lucky man to boot!

I've shared with no-one apart from on here - either they're very strapped (literally or just think they are) or just think we're crazy so I keep to myself
. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Aww, then it's their loss for missing out on your awesome money saving knowledge! Don't be too shy about talking to the cash strapped about such things though, I'm in a very precarious financial position currently - hence realising that that I really need to make my money work for me (and it's thanks to other people chatting about such things that I learnt there were other options). But I realise how paralysing that situation can be too - so hard to see a different way out of it.I've shared with no-one apart from on here - either they're very strapped (literally or just think they are) or just think we're crazy so I keep to myself

Hi just read through your diary,
your mortgage total is close to mine.
And I have just started a new diary,we are due to move in to our forever house in January ( I can't wait ) my mortgage total starts at £176,000
When is your wedding?
My brother spent £5000 on his and it was a lovely day, people thought he spent at least over £10,000£176,000 January 20140 -
everytime i mention overpaying on our mortgage our freinds just look blank - some because they are too strapped to consider it, but i think others might be too comfortable to worry about paying extra - my freinds and i happily talk about everything, except money - strange, isn't it? So I tend to explain that we have a new big mortgage to pay after moving house and that seems to say it all.mortgage 1 33,000. paid nov 2012
. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k0 -
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
It seems to be only this little fuzzy corner of the world where we can freeely talk about our MFW plans! :rotfl:

I think it is only very recently that my friends have started to realise that the reason I can't go out all the time is because the cost of a mortgage and general house maintenance is prohibitive.
I guess that was where I was a couple of years ago, skint but always had money for drinks/clubs etc.
Funny how much my outlook has changed.
*******
Very pleased with myself as didn't get a takeaway this week even though I desperately wanted one. :j
Stayed firm and cooked a nice HM dinner instead. Orange&Chipotle chicken with BBQ rice.
********
Very spendy weekend coming up but am looking forward to it if all plans go well.

Watched a bit of superscrimpers this week - got to admit I really didn't think there were any proper tips on there. Perhaps it's aimed at moneysaving for people who really aren't aware of their finances.

Mortgage news - none! This is getting to be a bit of a habit :rotfl:M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0
