Now cake is sorted, trying to look at dessert ideas. Around £100-130 for 100 people? Anyone have any ideas? Limitations are that it needs to be something that can be left out for a day/something involving lemon/blueberries/nothing that requires a sauce like custard or cream/something that I don't have to make to bring it in on budget.
Had a look at M&S + Waitrose, but nothing seems quite what I am looking for.

Only thing i can think of that stays out well is more cake! Cupcakes or muffins would make an easy dessert or pastries? Everything else I think of includes cream!

We just made our guests eat the wedding cake as desert :)

Xmas at the in-laws should be nice - I take it you get on well :)

I was going to suggest this too.. I think lots of people use the wedding cake as dessert now.

    What flavours are you having?

Thanks for the responses shala_moo and SmlSave

As we are not having a sit down meal and are only having a buffet - just wedding cake would be fine for just evening guests. However for the day guests that will have travelled a long way, we thought it was best to provide dessert as well. (We will be providing a picnic for the coach so they don't starve but also for storage issues, this will contain cake as well)

Think that will just be TOO MUCH cake for anyone to handle in one day.

I have one solution so far, which are frozen premade desserts (from a gourmet frozen shop) which can then sit out all day defrosting, but they are all 'normal' size so will need 15 desserts overall so just won't look as nice as 2 big desserts or 100 individual desserts.

Other wedding news is that the suits have been chosen and paid for - very MSE with 15% wedding fayre flyer and haggling 620 down to 500

Champagne has also been bought using tesco 25% off plus a bottle that was on half price. I never go to Tesco's so for once wsa glad for the advert.

Not been good with my exercise for various reasons - really haven't been sleeping well at the moment even though I am going to bed nice and early.

Will try to go tonight if I have the energy, but doubtful as have to do the grocery shopping

    ******
Weekend meals: spag bol/saus,hash browns & baked beans/LO saus cut up in cauliflower cheese/orange & chipotle chicken with rice and sweetcorn.

Got bought a delicious slice of pie at the weekend which was Sat brunch.

Hoover broken, but good old Dyson after 5 min phonecall are sending out a replacement part free of charge.
Some brands are really worth paying the premium for - Fairy Washing Up Liquid, Dyson, Kaymed

Mortgage Interest Payment this month: 610.51.
However that means daily interest now at 19.70! Yipee! Below £20 a day now!

Next target: 600 monthly interest (on a 31 day month)

Been playing around with Mortgage Overpayment Calculator and if I want to meet my 100k owing target in 2017, I would need to overpay by 711 a month from next year.

I definitely can not do that, so may have to revise plans. Not too disheartening, just spur me on to bigger and better.

    AIMS:
Finish saving for wedding : April 2014
Pay off Honeymoon : October 2014

Change Mortgage DD: October/November 2014 to 411 overpayment

Start Christmas in Jan sales: January 2014

    Get promotion/payrise: Dec-April 2014

    Lose 1 stone: April 2014

    Renovate garden/driveway (6k target): Summer 2016

No exercise last night though did spend a good hour in the SM so going to cheekily hope that counts

Wedding news: Found some runners - £4.50 each, so have sourced satin roll at £9 per 20m, so 27 versus 54. :money:Not bought yet, as can't store everything.

Rectangle Tablecloths are potentially being bought as a Christmas present (one each per person) so holding off on buying those until after Christmas. (Round tablecloths already bought)

Everyone else here seems to be super sorted for Christmas. This would usually be me feeling all smug, but due to various reasons, haven't started yet.

I have 16 people to buy for

:xmassmile:xmassmile:xmassmile bought so far. 13 to go.

    Money news... hmmmmm... none really.
Wish there was something to report here - sometimes I wish I got paid weekly... :embarasse

BlueMoo, I noticed you have ended the grocery challenge for November. You hardly seemed to spend anything, are you always so good with grocery expenditure or was it because you were watching the pennies for the challenge?

SmlSave - I have scheduled a shopping trip on Thursday for a quick reccie to see what's around.
Annoyingly, I have about 7 people who they haven't said what they want so don't want to buy anything for them yet.
However, going to have a dig through TKMx and see what kinda things are available.

    ****
Haha, yep money news is few and far between really. Maybe I should start some of these survey milarkies?

    *****

ChirpChirp - a mix of both really. I probably would have spent another 5 if I hadn't have been on the challenge, as I would have popped to get some eggs (and invariably a packet of crisps or maltesers)
I think I go to the SM very little (usually once every week and a half or so on average) which means I'm not tempted. Nearest one is about 15 min drive away and I am at work all day, I have to go in the evening which cuts down on my free time, so I actively try not to go.

Additionally, I have full stock cupboards, buy YS, and most of the time enjoy cooking.

I actually don't meal plan (did one week when I started the challenge but stopped), or batch cook. I don't really find that works for me, as I like to eat what I eat (if that makes sense). I guess I like a bit of spontaneity. I could probably cut it further but I like to buy free-range and british meat for ethical reasons so don't buy basics/my OH likes to have meat for every meal/I do buy quite a few 'treats'

I think you have to find your own groove of what works and what doesn't for your household. Hope that helps

    Still no money news.
