Yes, I have a thread on the wedding board, and whilst we are spending a fair amount, we are getting value for our money and having pretty much everything that we want. (I somehow don't think I can afford Lionel Richie there personally!!!) I have found it fairly tough going though on the wedding board, as a lot of people there seem to think you are 'wasting' your money if you spend over 2-3k.
I'm incredibly impressed for those who do manage to do it for so little, but I don't have a lot of family to call in favours from, I live in a very expensive part of Englad, and I want to have all my friends there.

That holiday sounds fabulous - sleepygirl126! Lots of Sangria and SUNSHINE!

So, will be spending day today.:(

Extra £20 going to my OH's work night.

Got to go to Sainsburys as I am cooking dinner for a veggie/vegan friend on Sunday so need to get a few bits and bobs.

Might have to top up on petrol too.

So, first start to fitness heaven! Need to find my knee supports. Have not seen them since I moved house over a year ago... It could be a long evening.....

Dinner last night was spanish omelette (tortilla). Paprika/Cayenne fried potatoes, tomatoes, red onions, chopped (leftover) chorizo omelette. Delicious and chock full of flavour.

Left my yoghurt at home today so hoping I won't be tempted to go out and buy snacks.

I think 2-3k is a bit unrealistic for a full on wedding really - I totally admire those who can manage it for that and are happy with a smaller day, but it wouldnt have suited us. We had 125 for a 4 course meal and 200 for the evening party and I wouldnt have done it any other way. I totalled up the cost for absolutely everything, including the honeymoon, hotel rooms etc etc - came to £11.5k. And that was us doing a lot ourselves / getting discounts left right and centre. We had a brilliant day, people still talk about it nearly 3 years on! I would say do what you want to do as cost effectively as possible, rather than letting the budget rule the day (as long as you aren't getting into any debt) xx

Yes KolaKube, I think what I was trying to say got taken in the wrong way. I wasn't saying you have to spend this much - more that whatever your budget, you can look to save money and get the most value from your money whether that be at 2k or 20k.

Have managed to find 2 local bakers near me (my first baker has had to drop out as she is away on holiday) so going for consultations next week. Very excited - all seems to be coming together now.
Not much more to organise. You have spurred me on though to go to Hobbycraft and take a good look at the artificial flowers. Poor OH! Hope I find some as nice as yours.

Hmmm.. have managed to spend £50 on my CC that I can't seem to locate on where I spend it. Usually if I spend something on the CC, I move money straight away into my pot which I pay off the CC with every month.
Can not seem to suss where I have spent that.

Got paid expenses today so have put that towards paying it off. So will be a bit tight this month.

Did a bit of shopping yesterday so only £15 left for grocery budget but did stock up on things so that should be enough to suffice - just for fresh salad etc.

Healthy living plan had a knock back yesterday - broke at work and bought some cookies and sugary drink.

Oh well, get back on the wagon and a fresh start today.

    HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

    :doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:OH DEAR!!

Think having wedding on the brain!!

I thought big house was abit of a weird phrase for 'up the aisle' as it were :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes, house wise. It is very difficult in our area to go from 3 bed to 4 bed. There is just such a massive difference.
Even if we did extend our house, it's not really our dream area or dream house really.

Are you in the London/Surrey area?

  • Haha, yeah I appreciate the house is a bit further afield! No, not based in the south east, just have embarrasingly expensive taste! I live in a flat now so am determined to get something detached at the very least. I think it's good to aim high, and if it takes a little longer or you have to sacrifice a bit it's not the end of the world.
