I have never understood why we actually needed to include "Win" in the title, particularly when we were frequently short of space to put in a full description of the prize. However, when I first started in Feb 2008, it did seem to be the accepted procedure and I have used it ever since.
Velvet Glove's guide did not come into being until July 2008 and seemed to confirm that this was how it was wanted.
At the end of July 2008, the new date format was introduced and divadee made THIS POST which also stated that "win" should be included after the date. As I understand it, divadee was the creator of the comps board and was (is?) the "Lawmaker".

With all the extra info now being included in titles it would seem to be a good time to drop this convention.

Win is going to be at the Roundhouse on the 11th and the 12th November with the rest of the band. They will be playing under the pseudonym 'The Reflektors'. Which is of course the name of their latest album.

You were asking about Win Butler right? I mean a whole thread about the word win would be silly...

    Thank You Very Much Bob.

I thought it was a "rule" to use it as I could not understand why people who post so many comps a day would use it when they did not need to use it.

I'm sure all you sensible people in the comps community don't really need me to clarify this, but 'win' isn't needed in the title of the thread (unless your posting a competition where there isn't a prize) ;)

    Thank You Glad :T:T

This has helped me as I have CFS every word I can miss out on a thread helps & over the day/week it adds up to a lot of "wins"

I've just spent three minutes pondering in what circumstances there would be a competition without a prize.

Seriously, three minutes. I mean I could've entered three comps in that time :D

Evening all, just back in from work and had my shower, comfy in my pj's and had my dinner!

As Glad has already said, the word 'Win...' isn't a must for comp threads being posted.

The MUST for the title of a thread is the E: xx/xx part so comps can be ordered into date order and searched for effectively. Then something to describe the comp prize and preferrably (fb) or (email) etc, to help out, if posters can remember is really helpful.

The 'Win' after the expiry date used to be followed years ago but wasn't really that big of a deal or necessary really. It doesn't interfere with the search function in any way :) So comp posters can either use 'win' or not.

(I didn't want anyone to think I'd ignored the pm or this thread :o Sorry I was at work when this question arose!)

Have a great evening folks, I'm off to bed as soon as I get those 'no thanks' dailies done!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
  • Sensible decision everyone :)

As that issue seems to be sorted I'm closing the thread.

    Andrea :)
