We have been trying for a baby which is going to result in us having to have IVF.
We both work full time and have good incomes and own our own home. We have never applied to the state for assistance.
It annoys me when people can be insensitive to others. It is all done so blase. I have 4 kids but am thinking of just having another. There are people out there who can't even have one.
I don't necessarily agree with OP, but I do think that this is unfair, although understandable in your position. I would guess that you are probably entitled to at least one cycle of IVF on the NHS (some posters also think that is a waste of taxpayers money, probably even some that thanked you), and whether you are or not, would no doubt jump at the chance if it was offered. I have also heard others on this site who think that fertility treatment is selfish and costly considering the number of children awaiting adoption and the already overpopulated planet. I'm not having ago, just saying that this is unfair.0 -

No, what you said was that OP is insensitive to people like you, blas! in talking about having a 5th child when some people can't have one.0 -

I remember at that age being incredibly broody, it was a hard instinct to fight, but I knew deep down it couldn't happen. We couldn't afford it space wise or financially and together with the fact I had three healthy children, in my mind it was a gamble.
Yes, same here. I LONGED for a third child, husband was dead against it. I am so glad I stuck at two; it would have been the wrong decision to have a third child.0 -

Who knows, maybe I'll need more hospital/home care than someone else who has 5 kids when I'm old(er) and grey(er).
I don't think you can compare planning something that will result in tax payers money and benefiting from tax payers money through circumstances you can't control. After all, you could say that who knows, maybe OP WILL need more care and all her children will need more care.
It is about being responsible. I don't agree with people relying on tax credits to support their lifestyle. Would they be able to afford 4 let alone 5 children without them at all? Saying that, there is a lot worse out there. OP's husband is working full-time and she seems a very good mum and likely to bring up good citizen, that's not comparable with the single parents of multiple neglected kids out there.0 -
If I was you OP - I would go for it!
Then when you next get broody, do it again until you have enough for your own football team.
Don't worry about the cost, just keep claiming these 'usual' benefits and all the workers out there will keep financially supporting your team.
Another option would be to buy a TV.0 -
If you're claiming tax credits and housing benefit then no you shouldn't have another child until you can afford to pay for the 4 kids you do have without these.0

I haven't read the whole thread but it seems the Op came on asking others opinions whether it would work if she had another child, and four pages later almost without exception all the opinions say .... No don't do it, with lists of reasons. But i think the Op made her mind up before her first post and no amount of advice will change it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
