And if it was my post you're talking about...I raised both positive and negatives :D

My parents are both from large families (but chose to only have 2 themselves) -I see the advantages and disadvantages but when it comes to it once you get to four plus most of the budget is already blown and an extra one or two isn't going to make a lot of difference. At least if you are homeschooling the younger kids get more time with you.

Would I do it ? No but I do believe if you are super organized it can be a success-My biggest reservation is that you felt the need to come on here and ask.

In your shoes my biggest worry is if the much talked about capping benefit at 3 kids comes in would I be stuffed.....and I suspect from what you've posted-You would be !

Not much point in posting really was there if you were just going to go ahead and breed regardless.

OK, slightly awkward as I admit to knowing the OP in RL (kinda) so I wasn't going to post to respect a bit of privacy, but I would say this on any thread where I saw it.......

I find this a disgusting term to use. "Breed regardless"?

Whatever your opinion, I find that phrase vile.

Have I said anywhere that I'm going to go ahead no I did not . I have responded to points raised and thanked you all for bringing clarity to my jumble of thoughts. There is a lot of negativity there is only 1 post I can see that included anything remotely positive.

I remember now why I stopped posting on this site.

I've spotted a few people saying this recently.

I think its really rude to all the posters who've taken the time to answer your question honestly and helpfully.

So why would you even mention it? Rather superfluous to the point you wanted to make :undecided

Because I know how people like to link 2+2 and assume some sort of cliquey conspiracy thing..... I have seen other posters who have an association outside of MSE be ripped apart on here as "bullies" and "ganging up".

I was going for honesty. Amazing eh :rotfl:

Apparently so. Never more obvious than when there was a glitch on Johnsons baby talc in Tescos a few years ago...... MSE folk may as well have worn t-shirts with their user names :rotfl:

I think it is more so when groups "graduate" from certain threads, like pregnancy, TTC etc......

I think you should sit and discuss it with your husband, really talk about the pros and cons, discuss potential problems, how it would impact your family etc. I know you say he would likely be excited and want to try now, but, he needs to put the brakes on that and consider all eventualities. Having a child is a lottery for everyone regardless of age, disability is something which every potential parent should think about, of course these risks do increase with age. That said, 37 is not unusual or particularly old to be having babies.

Outside of age, having 5 babies does make you a higher risk of some complications with labour and delivery, all of this should be discussed during the pregnancy but it's worth thinking about before hand.

If at the end of it all you both decide that you would like to go ahead then you will at least do it together with no resentment if it becomes challenging later on.

Duchy your post was the one positive one I mentioned. There have been a couple of others after that and I have thanked you all.

I think it's rather rude to use phrases like "breed regardless" as if We are churning kids out like a pair of randy rabbits. Sometimes it is not what is said but the way it is said. Poet managed to make points without being derogatory.

Here's another saying for you: "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

Seriously, weigh it up. Although I'm sure you've made your mind up already anyway and whatever anyone says won't matter one jot.
