Hi everyone.
Mr GSR-I hope you feel better soon. It sounds like you've pulled something
I did spend yesterday. I got my youngest another christmas pressie for £9.99 and I needed to get some light bulbs. So that was £14.98 in Argoos. Today will be a SFD though.
I too still feel a bit down, so have decided to try to be a bit Pollyannaish about everything now. Because either way, whatever is on my plate, be it emotionally or financially, is here for the long haul, so i need something to make light of it :rotfl:
Good luck everyone :T
Thanks, I think you're right. Cancelled my activities and have got my SIL to collect DD from school.
Sorry to hear you are feeling down too. Your words are wise though and true best to make light of it. Just had a little feeling sorry for myself cry, my carpets are a mess, my shoulder hurts, I'm tired and I can't really do anything. I'm over it now though. Will do a few surveys inbetween playing with DS then I won't feel so bad about missing the classes.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

Another SFD here, not much else to report.

Yes I have read this before and I concur...; - )“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Hi all
Well I;m still struggling to get any SFDs apart from the 3 or so I had already managed. I have a work trip to London this week as well so I think I will just try and live by NSK guidelines but not worry if I have small spends every day.
Gutted to have found out last weekend was free listing on Ebay, I wish they would announce it a little earlier!
I have had a look forward to December and I think I can do fairly well then as will be saving money for the events we have booked, so I will just cheerlead until then.
Good luck everyone!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -
Sorry not been signing in.......again. I honestly don't know where the times going. I have kept a tally of spends though.
Friday was a sfd. Saturday DD1 had her haircut @ £20. Sunday was a sfd. Monday I gave DS1 £25 for college, DS2 his school dinner money and an extra £13 for a sudden school trip, and had opticians appointment. Desperately needed new glasses (optician told me I wasn't to leave the shop without getting them lol ~ I usually wear contact lenses but as I pay monthly for them I can get free/discounted glasses every 2 years ~ haven't actually got any new glasses for 10-15 years ooooops!). I only paid £10 altogther though.
Today was shopping and spent £44.09. No plans to spend any money till Friday when I'm meeting a friend (this is my planned-for one).
Have a great day everyone, good luck!0 -

NinjaSavingKat wrote: »I see we need more clarification - here we go. The only reason I am giving you a loop hole with SFD's is if it's something you need to spend that is NECCESSARY... CAPITALS is for emphasis, I am not shouting I promise...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Neccessities include the following...and therefore an SFD can be gained.- Direct Debits and Standing Orders who's date and payment method YOU might not have control over.
- Mortgage and Rent payments - these are NOT a choice payment.
- Medication. Don't die for an SFD for goodness sake.
- Petrol - ONLY if it's within budget for the month and NECCESSARY - otherwise you WALK. If you go over your £60 budget for petrol you start incurring SFD's everytime you fill your car up.I don't want to penalise those who live in the country who have no choice but to drive.
- Yellow Sticker Purchases. These are your choice. If you really really need it you can still class the day as an SFD only if you haven't spent ANYTHING else. Yellow sticker donuts are not neccessary, yellow sticker bread is not neccessary - BUT if you can get all your shopping with yellow stickers then it's an SFD. And 11p for a bag of carrots won't break the bank.
- Childrens activities - whereby you HAVE to pay on the day. Get your shopping and tank up on the same day.
- 1 Day out whereby the money put aside will be classed as an SFD as long as you do not go over your budget amount.
- Food shopping. Your monthly budget is there for a reason. But you still incur a spend day if you use it. The idea of having a stipulated budget is to make you plan better and stop going to the corner shop. Some folk on here have admitted to wasting serious money on food because they haven't planned properly.
- Clothing and shoes of any sort - totally unacceptable if you are in debt anyway. If it's a desperate need please try a charity shop.
- Music / Books / Kindle Books etc - totally unacceptable.
- Beauty products over £10. Stop buying tubs of moiusturiser...:p
- Money left over from last month should be put towards your debt not used as a way to spend this month and still claim and SFD...
- Coffee shops of any kind.
- Cake shops of any kind
- Postcards / birthday cards / christmas cards ..sorry but these are spends that might just go in someones bin. That's not where your money should go. No one is getting a Christmas card from me.
- Days/Nights out. You have a 1 outing allowans whereby the money allocated will be an SFD. Anything over this is NOT an SFD.
This is why I don't do the challenge as you can count petrol as a sfd but not food!!! I do my own and watch this thread for inspiration! All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -

JazzyJustLaw - there are a few posts as to why I don't class food as a spend day. You need to read back on the first 12 pages (ish).. But I also said if this is not a challenge for you (or anyone else) that's ok too. I can't cater to everyone's differing opinion. It's going to be much simpler next month if you feel brave enough.
Incidentally why don't you do the challenge just because of that one rule?“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -

JJL - I don't think I've ever managed to reach the SFD target and I'm not going to reach it again this month. In fact I don't manage to achieve every target each month but it doesn't stop me from participating. For me it's a guidance, that something at the back of my mind that says "Do you really need to buy/spend..?"
Kat can seem a bit scary but it's not like she comes round to your house at the end of each month and tells you off or kicks your bUm:rotfl:0 -

25 sfds is too much when I am so busy and have to buy milk and bread and other things over the week that I see as essential. I will look at next months and see if it is for me. Of course you cannot cater for everyone xAll my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0
