Grrrr just realised this morning I have not got enough porridge left to last until payday which would be my next shop :( I always buy a 1kg bag so not sure what has gone wrong? Means I will have to have another spend day to get some (don't have enough bread, any eggs or beans or cereal to have instead). So will go to mr m on way home to get that. It also just occurred to me i can't take my contact solution on the plane as we are hand luggage only and it's 200ml. Going to look in boots by mr m to see if I can get a tiny bottle. Specsavers have a 100ml one for £4 but would rather get a smaller one. Don't have any empty plastic bottles but needs to be sterile anyway so will need to buy some.

Have any of you Avon ladies tried that new mascara that looks like a stamp. Think pack is red and black? Saw it in a mag and wondered if any good as want a new one for Xmas. Need lengthening one as have short lashes

  • I'm with cALLING14 and PurpleJay. Before this challenge, I would pop into the shop every morning on my way to work for milk and £20 notes would evaporate from my purse by Friday! Am feeling most pleased with myself as have only had purse out of bag once since Saturday...for my bank details to set up new ISA :A

Looking forward to forthcoming challenges to start filling it up!

Same here - it's kind of what's made me give in because I know I can't do it, what with a toddler in the house and only a mini fridge :) If the food shopping could be included if it was within the pre-declared budget it would be a lot easier IMO. Does anyone know if there is a monthly challenge along these lines?

I can see that it works for others though so well done! :)

Every other part of the challenge I am fine with and find it easy as I an simple living anyway but I agree if you are within your pre declared budget then it should be ok. ESP as not all of us, like yourself, has large fridge/freezer or storage space.

So just aim for 20 then. I am not going to come out and bash any of you for following so close to the letter with everything else... it's the taking part and lessons learned that are more important. That goes for everybody - and yes it is bl**dy hard!...:rotfl:..Thankfully I left my wallet at home...:)

Thanks Kat. I've really enjoyed doing this and last months challenge and it has been really beneficial to my thinking and most importantly clearing my debt and I thank you wholeheartedly for being a huge part of that.
I feel like I have come a really long way and learnt so much in such a short time. I hope to achieve the same successes as yourself and with these challenges I think I will.

For a moment there, I had an image of you with a mini-bar fridge, sorry! I had to re-read your comment twice before my brain caught up:rotfl:

Well admittedly this month is extremely hardcore, usually it's only about 20 SFDs ;). The aim is just to plan ahead despite being busy, i.e. buy 4 or 8 pints at the start (if you can store them that is) and know how many sandwiches you need to make. Of course not everything goes to plan and we need to buy top ups. But the aim is to avoid them as many of us don't just come out of the shop with the milk but also snacks, and a bottle of pop etc and other items we think we need rather than make do. I work full time and have a toddler. It's hard and I "fail" occasionally but it makes me thinks twice before spending even on food and use what I have in the house. Hence food counts as a spend as you don't tend to buy petrol or a bus fare willy nilly but as you really need it to get to work. I like the strictness because even if I can't achieve everything and "break" some rules it makes me try really hard. And I need the crack of the whip sometimes :rotfl:

Completely agree. It's stop the popping in from the way home to get milk and bread and coming home with biscuits that were on offer, a meal deal and a scratch card and spendi ng £20!

  • So is the conclusion of today's discussion that milk is evil? Nevermind gin, the white stuff is clearly Mother's Ruin.

NSK is this why you are vegan?!
