Loving all the positive vibes on here tonight. How uplifting! It is hard being in debt, but having the support and understanding of people in a similar situation makes all the difference. I love the 'things to be grateful for' list and will remember that next time I feel down! Thanks Apple Muncher

Thank you! I nicked the idea from Alchemilla on the MFW thread and decided to try to apply it to me. I have my upbeat days and my more morose days, my good sleeps and my not-so-good sleeps. But we all have them, don't we, so then it's time for TLC and being kind to ourselves. Hugs all round to those who need them AND to those who don't!!:grouphug:

Done the weekly shop but there is definitely an advantage in being able to go by myself which i wasnt able to do :(. So overspend but only on healthy useful things like smoothie, prawns, yogurts etc. They took me over by 20 quid compared to the list i had prepared but had a £5 off voucher for Aldi. Will be back later once OH and Ds are gone.

  • Happy Weekend all!

I hope that people are feeling a little better now the weekend is upon us. Have a lot of work to do tomorrow, but given myself today to just have some R&R time. (i.e. watch stuff on youtube, play games and paint).

I had my one night out, at a friend's house; with a take away, a couple of bottles of wine and some games last night. was really enjoyable (though i felt pretty ill this morning - own fault, eh?)

Got my claims form in, been approved so that's some money made, also done some YouGov - am 1/5th towards my next payout.

Wishing all who need them hugs and good wishes, and cheering for those whose more positive perspectives have helped me :)

stewby have you considered either applying to work at the festival or attending another, less expensive one? Would your friends consider a different one.
I'm involved with a festival coverage company on a voluntary basis and we found many people were moving away from the big cooperate ones and towards the smaller, cheaper ones with more atmosphere and fun. I've been festivalling for many years and have done the big ones but have had a much better time at the smaller ones.

    hi all,

so today has been spendy :(

couldnt find a resuable cold gel thing anywhere other than boots so was £6.99. also needed earplugs (wear them all the time, cant sleep with out them as im use to them). its about £2.80 for 3 prs but they had a big box of 20 prs for just over £6 so unit price was a third of small box. plus had £2.50 off £10 healthcare spend so £11.48 in boots.

then spent £11.50 over reimb in bra shop but did get really nice bra and pants :)

and £1.25 spent over reimb on the other job as it was only £1 limit in an expensive dept store and i needed an engagement card for friend.

but managed to resist coffee shops and snacks even though i was out for over 6 hours. had my sandwiches with stale bread (why does t always taste stale when defrosted :( )

however could have been a vvvvv spendy day as i did something sooooooooo stupid. put my handbag and the carrier bag with a £105 ms purchase down on a ledge while i read notes for next job, did next job and realised i didnt have carrier bag. went back and obv it was gone :eek::cry::cry::cry: asked at lost property on off chance and a lovely person had found it and handed it in! :A:j was sooo happy, not just because i wasnt out of pocket but it just shows there are some nice ppl still out there :D

now exhausted so been snacking in front of the radiator and about to make thai curry. not for dinner but for freezer. having fish fingers, chilli mash and peas and sweetcorn tonight :p

Spend day today as predicted. Bought the rest of the dog and cat food for the month (£21.93) and human food for at least a week (£40ish including a few months supply of air fresheners).

Also went to the charity shop and donated my items, and donated £3 of food to the food bank :)

I'm still on the hunt for ways to make more money. Cannot find any more items to sell :(

SFD 9 here so pleased with that. Made curry sauce (had to use up some yoghurt) and pizza sauce and made dough for me and the kids to have pizza for tea. Already have all the ingredients in so saved money.
DH said I can have a new vaccum cleaner only i don't think he realizes which one I want! Ooops!

No, that's a great idea. Thank you! Do you know what's the best way to get into it?

I'm going off to hunt for it in my area now :)

  • Hello everyone!

Spendy day here and also a decluttering day - although it was a planned spendy one! My hand was forced by opening my scarf drawer the other day and finding one of my scarves in tatters - moths :(:(

So cue gingerly opening each scarf and checking for destruction. All non-destroyed scarves are now in the wash - hope they all come out in one piece! May need to invest in some cedarballs to stop this happening again though. Going to check online now!

    sniff :(:(

Other than that - all good here! Only went to Sainsbobs twice out of this whole week which for us is brilliant! Friday night - got all yellow stickers but then added a bottle of vino for the OH hence spendy day - boo!!! Well chuffed with this challenge though - always makes me stop and think! Yay!!! Next week - lots more no spending days I hope!!!

    hugs x
