  • Spend day today as it's grocery shopping time again!! Hoping for a SFD weekend. I am not sure if I can get to 25 this month but I will sure try. It certainly makes you think about spending, it's been an eye opener already with what my spending habits are.

I have been to the local butchers today to get my chicken fillets. We have found they taste really nice and only need to use 3 small ones for the 4 of us with no waste. It was my second visit and I got more for my money (few extra fillets added to my order..yay:j)...this is the way to go. I have individually wrapped up each fillet and frozen them. I have more frozen food coming tomorrow so I better sort the freezer out tomorrow. Used up a large pack of mince yesterday, I usually split it in to and then freeze it but hubby put it straight in the freezer . So I defrosted it yesterday and cooked a spaghetti bolognaise and also did a cottage pie to put in the freezer for next week. I have used up onions and potatoes which were a week passed its Best before but still ok.

Will be making cakes and biscuits tomorrow as well as battling with the dreaded ironing. It's one job I would happily pay someone if I ever won the lottery.

Hubby's just gone to bed, not in a very good mood. Was suppose to have a few days of this week but management decided to book some meetings and he now has to go into work tomorrow. He never seems to have any proper time off. He has only had a full week so far this year as holiday and has only been able to have the odd days off. They can't seem to manage without him, always texting and phoning him when he is home, even on evenings and weekends if he is ever off. It's so frustrating seeing an exhausted husband all the time. But he loves his job and to be fair he is really good at it.

All I seem to be able to do for him is ensuring he has a clean shirt everyday, tea on the table, the house is tidy and the kids are looked after.

Anyway, will stop rambling. Off now to tidy the kitchen and off to bed....toodles :j
  • Whoop whoop - DH has made another £30 dog sitting! And I've half made a Batman cake for my son which looks quite good if I do say so myself. Wasn't much cheaper than shop bought as I had to buy tins but I had so much fun! Feel much better than I have done for a couple of days - yes definitely better to focus on positives rather than negatives. :j

Hopefully another nsd tomorrow (got to pay for parking at swimming pool where ds party is but already got this in a little pot so counted it when I did my planning - sorry slightly cheating!!!!) :p

Even though I haven't done very well this week in terms of nsd, I am quite pleased with me and DH as we really haven't done any unnecessary spending (apart from the babysitting and wine!). There have been several times where I could have easily spent little bits of money on coffee, chocolate etc. There were a few times where we had to buy stuff as we hadn't planned the shop properly. I have done an internet shop today which came to quite a lot but hopefully I won't need to buy anything else. It will come on Sunday but I'm counting it today!;)

Have a good weekend all. Can you tell I haven't got much to do tonight?!

MrsBrownBear, you said: I have used up onions and potatoes which were a week passed its Best before but still ok. Well done for using them up, i think too much food is nowadays thrown out because people take the use by and best before date to literally. Once a product is in my house I rarely look at those dates.

I always go by look and smell, the potatoes dont know its Friday the 8th ;). Also it depends on the way they are stored. For instance eggs keep for weeks in the fridge or even at RT as long as their shell is intact and so on.

Managed to avpid the shop today and will either cycle to Aldi tomorrow or wait till i get the car on Sunday

Loving the positive vibes and supportive messages tonight. Keep going guys and girls, already 8 days and over a quarter done.

Loving all the positive vibes on here tonight. How uplifting! It is hard being in debt, but having the support and understanding of people in a similar situation makes all the difference. I love the 'things to be grateful for' list and will remember that next time I feel down! Thanks Apple Muncher

More exciting news here, not very MSE, but after much deliberation, Mr Tiptoes and I are potentially adding to our family (of me, him and the cat) and are going to meet a 16 week old rescue kitten tomorrow morning who needs a new home! If she likes us, and after building a bit of a relationship with her, then we make a very reasonable donation to the cat rescue charity (less than the cost of the takeaway I didn't get last night NSK!) and three become four at Tiptoes mansion!

I know its not money saving, but at the same time, she won't be costly - our cat is very cheap to run as we keep him on biscuits not wet food and we buy in bulk, and we'll do the same for her. We shop about for pet insurance and have all the cat toys etc we'll ever need. But, when we saw her picture we couldn't resist going for her! What price love?

Anyway, spend day here as it was weekly shop day. Have to spend over £40 to get the xmas money off voucher and again I really struggled! Got lots of freezer bits, some xmas treats, some store cupboard sauces etc and it squeaked in at £41!

Raising a glass (of tap water) to all those of us spending Friday night on the sofa wrapped in a blanket in warm jarmies and jumpers, and whose's plans for tomorrow night are the same too! x

I'm sat on my sofa unwinding after work in my PJs and sklanket. Actually feel more awake than I did before I went and it wasn't as tough as last night. I have tomorrow off and as DH is going out I'm going to sit on the sofa all evening and watch cheesy films that he won't watch cos they are too girly.
Got a few hours OT on Sunday and I'm planning to book in some more next week if I can.

    Hiya MrsGSR.

Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

I am quite bad for "nipping" up to my parent's house and watching movies my OH won't tolerate, (mainly disney cartoons and romcoms). He will text me after about 30 minutes to ask what is taking so long.
    :p

Planning to have another spend-free day today (now that it is saturday). We are going to attempt to make fajitas with the leftover chicken. I have a recipe for fajita wraps so we are going to test that out too. Fingers crossed.
    :D

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs.

    snip

Kerfuffle - cannot believe you have to donate money to the "bosses".. shocking! I would laugh my head off if our lot suggested that!

    snip...

I know! Last year was my first Christmas with the company and I was most 'put out' that I was being asked for a contribution towards gifts for the bosses. But then I went to the Christmas party which was a really nice meal, and I got given a fair amount of supermarket gift cards and a visa card with $50.00 on it, plus a voucher for a free night in a jacuzzi suite at another hotel within the chain. So it turned out to be a really good night :D

Well today has been a SFD day :T and I've declutterd 3 items in the direction of the charity shop :j. I've been steadily working my way through a collection of pages torn from magazines that have a perfume fragrance under a flap. The kind that you're at risk of getting a paper cut when rubbing the page on your wrists and neck. Today I used the last one, it's only taken me several years (on and off) :rotfl:So they've been finally decluttered in the direction of the recycling centre too.

    Scores on the doors are:-

    Food 39.96 / 187.50 21.31%
    Petrol 63.13 / 225.00 28.05%
    Local food bank 0 / 3.00
    Hair 0 / 62.50
Works Xmas Party 0 / 3.25 (Raffle contribution - goes to local charity)
Dentist 0 / 18.75 (Had my appointment and no costs were incurred so 12.50 has gone to a gift contribution and 6.25 has gone into the Mortgage OP Pot.)

    Total 500.00 GBP

    SFD 7 / 25
    Declutter 4 / 20
    Extra money earned/made 0 / 80.00

Hi all! Just checking in yesterdays spend free day number 7, money made from overtime and lunch to work :D

Am also joining the band wagon and feeling down in the dumps :( there must be something in the air! Been thinking about how small my world has become over the duration of my debt repayment and how I've cut out so many things I used to enjoy in order to save money :o.. My life seems to revolve around work and money! But I have no regrets about my decisions or the lifestyle changes because I chose to settle The Debt as a priority above all else.. I'm just looking forward to having some kind of life again and partaking in hobbies, interests and such that nourish the soul :o

Anyway, enough doom and gloom Im off to bed after finishing my shift! Will probably feel better after a good sleep :) Night all

    Morning all,

Feeling much more positive this morning, even though the weather looks dull and grey. Also today is the one day of the week that I ban myself from working so looking forward to 24 hours of non-work related activities, even if it's just chores!

I'm having a spend day and hoping to go to Ald! and Asd4 (not sure this is wise on a Saturday!) as well as drop off my charity items and my food bank items

NSK do you work for eB4y? They are promoting their free insertion fee weekend as time for an autumn clear out!

Well its the last day of my AL so back to work tomorrow:( although it might help in the SFD count. Its not going well...
Have done all my grocery shopping and I hope it lasts longer than a week. Yesterday I took a box of tiles back and got a £12 refund They were from when I had my bathroom done in July and its taken me this long to return them. Theres also a big meat place near there so promptly spent the £12 and a tiny bit more on chix and bacon. Freezer compartment full to within a inch of its life.
Paid another £100 of the CC :j, I can see the light there!!! A friend owes me some money which will pay the remainder off, hopefully before Xmas although the 0% doesnt run out until feb so Im ok.
So then its all hands on the mortgage which if I continue with the current payment will finish DEC 2014. However that aint happening!!! Im going for SOONER;). Bring it on :T:T:T
Off to yorkshire shortly to see a friend and my 3 favourite kiddies. Enjoy the day peeps xxx
