morning all!
today i am hoping for a nsd except for the ice pack but i have a bra ms to do (no fee but get money towards purchases). possible i may go slightly over.
other than that i have 5 other ms to do. one involves a £1 purchase which i get back but the others are not purchases (except one where i have to buy something very expensive and then return it!)
also have some money to pay into bank which is left over from the spending allowance i give myself each weekthis weeks spends have been reduced by £10 for something i bought online last month. however i dont need anything so going to put it in bank as well. so i should have £35 extra spends for milan and £5 put aside to buy something for dinner on way home from airport (land at 6pm, home at 10pm). cant really not buy anything to eat unless i take from home and carry around for 4 days :rotfl:
as i will be out about 5/6 hours i am going to take a packed lunch so i dont need to buy anything (annoyingly i couldnt find any fast food ms)
off to play with online banking and move money around. changed my little saving pots im going to have so i now have 'presents' (bday and xmas), 'fun' (weekend away, clothes, hair etc) and 'yearly' (insurance and phone line). in jan when i pay my tax bill i am going to put some money in the yearly pot each month for that as well. have bought few xmas pressies on cc so need to get money transfered to new presets acc from my xmas fund and pay them off:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -

8/30 no carrier bag days
I will be doing my shopping today and putting petrol in. This week has been ok with regards to not spending as I have been so busy/exhausted so that's a negative positive.
Something else I am going to put into my challenge is no carrier bag days, I decided this month not to use any as I have a shed load of reusable ones and I do feel bad each time I forget to take/use them. I have given all the carrier bags I have to the charity shop so I have a clean slate. I have got reusables in the boot and in my handbag and have not used a single plastic bag this month. 8/30
Have a good day everyone.Littlewoods £10 Very BNPL £234.42

Morning!
Am all arrived in Manchester and settling in to my 2 weeks of cat/house sittingLooking after 2 white persians - so cute!!!
Had a birthday yesterday and got money from everyone, including a bonus for house sitting! Really kind of them! Have stashed it away, and am going to try and stick to my usual monthly budget if I can. I may not make the 25 SFDs as I will be out and about with family and friends, but will do my best to stay within limits on spending.
Going to have a lazy day today and re-adjust to life in the slow lane

Morning All
Well hubby went to work this morning. Just sat down for a cuppa and thought of you guys . Just cleared the kitchen up as my two little ones wanted to help make cakes for this week, so kids are very happy now - they love baking. Still have my pile of ironing to do which I will tackle once my son has finish his homework. I have also made my bread as well, so the house is smelling lovely and warm.
Just waiting for my shopping to be delivered so better get everything organised as still have freezer to do. Toodles :wave:0 -
Yesterday was so very nearly SF but I had to get bread.
Chatting with DH this morning in bed we both really decided to dig our heels in and get saving. We manage to live well within our income when we absolutely have to, but as soon as there's wiggle room we lapse. So, we kind of stiffened our resolve and zipped up our purses!Trying to keep in budget.

Hi all! Just checking in yesterdays spend free day number 7, money made from overtime and lunch to work
Am also joining the band wagon and feeling down in the dumpsthere must be something in the air! Been thinking about how small my world has become over the duration of my debt repayment and how I've cut out so many things I used to enjoy in order to save money
.. My life seems to revolve around work and money! But I have no regrets about my decisions or the lifestyle changes because I chose to settle The Debt as a priority above all else.. I'm just looking forward to having some kind of life again and partaking in hobbies, interests and such that nourish the soul
Anyway, enough doom and gloom Im off to bed after finishing my shift! Will probably feel better after a good sleepNight all
This pretty much describes how I feel. I've always lived a fairly simple life anyway but it's scaled right down now.
Lack of sleep certainly makes things feel worse though. I hope you feel brighter this morning.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
I have a dilemma. My vaccum cleaner has clearly had it. I've had it over 6 years and it's been fixed more times than I can remember and the parts are taped on with duct tape. It really is a sorry sight. Despite the fact I have cleaned the filters, changed the filters, cleaned the pipes and cleared blockages it still keeps cutting out and the retractable lead doesn,t work anymore and randomly retracts back when you are using it. Just had it out now and it just moves around the dirt instead of sucks it up. My 12 year old mini vacuum cleans up better but I can't clean a 3 storey house with that! Also I have two kids under 5 so as you ccan imagine there are always bits over the floor.
so I clearly need a new one, the one that would be most practical is a high end one which is quite expensive but I know it will work best for me, would it be terrible if I asked DH if I could use some of our savings to buy one? Or should I just chance it with the mini one till the end of the month.
Answers on a postcard please!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

This has just happened to me too! I have resorted to using a dust pan and brush until pay dayI too have 3 storeys and 3 teenagers with friends running up and down the stairs and a 5year old, so I really do feel your pain! However, as I need to tone up, there is more reason for me to not replace it yet
If you can borrow the money to get another, I would as the ones I'm assuming your referring to will serve you well and with two kids under 5,sometimes we have to do what is necessary, as your job is already hard enough
I'm another one feeling rather down lately, but am really trying to smile!
Keep up the good work everyone! This won't be easy, but it will be worth it! I so cannot wait to be on the debt free roll of honour:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

Good to know I'm not alone! It makes me ashamed it really does and I dread vaccuming as I never know what it is going to fall off as I carry it up the stairs :rotfl:
Going to sell my old mixer and the coffee machine to fund it I think. Also as I get staff discount I can save a huge amount of money on it.
But yes you're right, you have to do what's necessary with two young children, esp one who is into everything!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Morning everyone.
MrsGSR: I think you should get a hoover. You have small children to think about and I don't like the idea of them maybe picking something up off the floor that should have been hoovered up. Other people may disagree but I think if it is a long term investment (as in you are going to have it until it breaks) then it is okay.
:undecided
PheoniX: That is very similar to how I feel. Obviously, I have not been on this journey very long but it is the realisation that for the next two years, I will have a very small world. I am a very impatient person and prefer everything to be resolved as soon as possible but I can't do that with this and it frustates me.
:embarasse
Yesterday was a bit of a rotten day. I go to a festival every year (have met some wonderful people there) and love it but they have upped the ticket prices. I have already bought 2014's tickets but in 2015, the prices mean it will be over £500 for the two of us.
I can't really afford that but the problem is that neither can most of the people we go with which means people are already saying they are no longer going. (I know this sounds stupid but these people are kinda my only friends. I don't go out in my local area and I only really socialise online. I did mention before that I am socially awkward). The thought of losing this makes me quite miserable.
To top it all off, my cousin has headed to london for the weekend to do all the touristy stuff and I am spending the weekend feeling sorry for myself in the house. Yep, pity party for one here.
Today, however, I am feeling a bit better. I am now managing to rationalise the negatives which is a start.
* No, I can't afford to go anywhere just now but then my cousin can't get on the property ladder (which is something she is desperate to do).
* No, I can't go clothes shopping this month but then do I actually need anything?? So why do I need to go shopping.
* Yes, I am in debt but I have realised this and am trying to get out of it.
* Yes, I am restricting my budgets (possibly too much for me) but I will then be able to keep more for fun stuff once the debt is paid off, (including the festival).
* Yes it is a long road but I am already a month into it so it's a month shorter than it could have been.
Sorry for the rambling post but it makes more sense if I put it on "paper"
Hope everyone has a lovely day.
