piggybankshaker i'm glad that your mum hasnt got any nasty side effects yet. Long may it continue. All the best
After 3 days of instant porridge for lunch i made 4 batches of sweet potato, sweetcorn, bacon and pea soup.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Right, quick update, having a bit of a nightmare with DH being off work this week (having a lovely time but that doesn't pay off the debt does it?!!). We managed the planned night away meal out within budget, but forgot that we would have to pay £2.50 for a scan photo that morning
However, this added to the meal STILL came within budget so I'm going to count it as an SFD. Other than that its been a good few days since I posted so I'll just do the numbers:
3/25 SFD
57.56/120 - food (every 2 weeks)
29.46/30 - outing - planned night away with DH and DS
15.57/10 - toiletries
27.97/10 - miscellaneous
0/3 food bank
14/20 decluttering
0/80 make money challenge
So clearly struggling a bit but planning on gaining control again from now
NSK - sorry to hear about the unexpected landlady bombshell, it is so unsettling when you don't have the control over where you live, but sooooooo glad (and not a bit surprised) to hear its pushing you in a new and determined direction :T

Need to wrack my brain on more ways to make more money as I really want to cut this debt down asap. I've eB4yed most items that are not needed/used and the others don't look like they are in demand so will put them in the charity bag. My work doesn't have any OT
Any ideas welcome?[/QUOTE]
Hi Fmess I'm in a similar position, have sold most things (although am now looking at everything with more determined eyes in a bid to make any money possible) and am a SAHM so obvy no overtime. Have you done any surveys? They're a bit mind numbing but can build up and rather than put to debt you can always claim as amazon vouchers and use when you need pressies/beauty products

Yes I do surveys on Sw4gbucks but find it takes a long time to earn a decent amount of money. I can usually check out £10-15 a month if I try and do a survey or a few tasks everyday.
Do you know of any more lucrative survey sites?

PiggyBankShaker glad to hear your mum is doing well... great news!
Well, SFD no 4 here. And an amazing demonstration of how much we both have changed here at TipToes Mansion. My sat nav conked out whilst I was at work today. I use it every day for work as I have to be all over the county to various and numerous visits per day. Until not very long ago, I would have driven straight to the nearest large supermarket and shelled out without thinking on whatever sat nav they happened to have in stock, probably spending £100 without even thinking about it (plus probably buying a nice lunch and coffee from there to cheer myself up for the inconvenience of the detour). But no, I muddled through the rest of the day with my phone maps and guess work and then when I got home worked out by a series of experiments that the sat nav was fine, and the car charge port was fine and that it was the charger that was kaput. Tonight my DH was looking at it in order to find a compatible one on ebay to get for a few pounds when he noticed it 'looked odd'... a quick scout round the car with a torch and a dab of superglue later and I have a fully functioning sat nav and charger again.. all for free! I am feeling very pleased and proud and not a little shocked and disgusted that previously I would have chucked perfectly good sat nav in the bin and wasted £100 on a new one.
I do sympathise with the chat earlier about getting OHs on board though. Money is such a hard topic and everyone thinks differently about it. I think pooling our money and debts has helped focus us both, but it's not for everyone I know. Luckily, he is naturally good with the 'no presents' rule (maybe a bit too good!) and our cat is very selfish and tight!
24 days till payday and another debt busting payment on the CC!
Happy Hump day all xLBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j

Checking in with SFD number 5. Happy to have had 5 already but like others I'm worried I won't make the full 25. I will try very very hard though!
Tomorrow will be my grocery shopping day so will be speedy but all budgeted for.
Interesting to hear about the hubby's and issues relating to them not being fully on board. I think mine understand what I want to achieve but isn't that keen to put in the hard work himself. That said he isn't too bad.
Keep up the hard work peopleFinally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

I struggle with swagbucks, I must look into it a bit more. I get most from Onepoll and Valued Opinions, but its still not loads of money by any means. I've also heard Ipsos is good so I'm going to look at that. There is another one I use but I can't for the life of me remember what it is just now!! Hey everyone
Today and yesterday were SFD so that's me up to 5 now. Did a few hours overtime today and yesterday so that'me my £80 made, £81 to be exact and hopefully I'll get a lot more overtime hours clocked up this month. :TSave £25,000 in 2025: #45-£524.15/25, 000

Slightly ashamed to say that this was yet another spending day!
Sons 7th birthday and of course I hadn't got any candles apart from 2 pink ones. Got some from local shop but quite pricey £2.95! Put them on the homemade cake (made without eggs as I refused to go and buy some!). Also bought the boys poppies so spent £1 on them, and just about to pay for my veg box £18 (I like to pay for it as soon as it is delivered as it is my friends livelihood). No hope of 25 nsd this month as I've only managed one so far!!!
Interesting what people are saying about their DHs. Mine is fully on board as it's his credit card bill (and purchases!) that we are trying to pay off. We are in a much better position financially than lots of people but I don't like debt. When we've got rid of credit card debt (hopefully by end of this year), then we will start to tackle the money that I owe to my mum that she lent us for building work.
Aiming to get my second nsd tomorrow! May need a gold star or something like that!!!!:rotfl:
Piggybankshaker - glad your mum is feeling ok after her chemo.
NSK - when are you planning on heading overseas? Haven't read through the earlier challenges but am I right in thinking that you are planning on going to Australia?Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 6000 -
Evening Chickadees... I bagged another SFD and feel a bit naughty staying up this late on a school night when I have no reason too! Love listening to the wind and rain outside thought while being tucked up in bed.... just wanted to say good night one and all. Remember tomorrow is another day - reaffirm why you are on this site/challenge and give it another go!!
Onwards and Upwards!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
