Well, these passed few days have whizzed by and this is my first update for a while. However, I've been planning, planning and more planning. I've got my budget sorted within an inch of it's life and it's been drawn out in one lump sum and split between the envelopes.
I tried to do as much shopping in one day and went to the butchers, fishmonger and market to get everything I needed for the next couple of weeks. Then went to Lidl and get the other things I need.
This is the way the budget/spending is at the moment.

Will be getting myself a nice cuppa and will catch up on all the posts. Beats paying £4 on a magazine.
Keep up the good work because I love reading how you are all doing and the massive energy that is being put in to rein in the spending. Have a great day everybody.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

I so agree with you Mrs Toast!
I decided soon after my diagnosis 5 1/2 years ago that I wouldn't substitute with gluten-free processed foodstuffs, but would change the way I ate instead. I probably moved towards a more 'paleo' way of eating. About a year ago, dd was also diagnosed as coeliac, so we are all g-f in the house now. The consultant said that dh should join in too, to avoid cross-contamination! He now had a shoebox wherd he keeps his bisvuits and treats!
The 'downside' is that dd gets free prescriptions and and we are still working out what she likes and will eat, so we end up with 'spare' gf food, which finds its way into my tum! I felt so well when i was completely grain- and sugar-free, had more enetgy and lost weight.
Hmmm. Methinks I should apply some energy to re-discovering that way of life!
My first day NOT going to my stressy little job - can't quite believe it's over! No excuse not to tidy, clean and declutter now, darn it!
NSK - sorry to hear about your enforced housemove.:( Hope you're able to find a lovely new place in the right location at the right price.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Kat- sorry to see u have to move again
maybe it could be an added challenge, find kat a place to live or rent kat a room??
Mrs.toast- happy birthday for yesterday, hope u got spoilt.
Well yesterday was another sfd, my third.
Will be having another today 2, if it kills me!
The main thing i was concerned about running out of was bread and milk, mainly for dh and dd. However i bought 8 pints, and have baked fresh bread and some bread rolls everyday
Taking some dresses to a friend today, think theres 7, and took a bag of maternity tops to a friend yesterday, that makes way over the 20 items decluttered, but i need to keep going!
Currently have 8 items listed on e-b4y, only for 99p each, 5 of them are old items of dd's so ive told her she can have the money for her money box if we sell them, or buy something new. Thought there was a lesson in there somewhere?!
Right then, time to get up and also to convince dd she wants sandwiches and not school dinners today to save me £2 at the end of the week!!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Morning - not much news - had SFD yesterday and took lunch to work. Same planned for today. Clearing house of furniture and bits and bobs tonight so should manage the 20+ items to charity. Have found a couple of things to go on eBay but waiting for free listings.
Love the cooking stories - don't have an oven myself so can't make cakes or bread. Have slow cooker though and, I've just remembered, at the house I'm clearing I've got a bread maker that I'll dust off - my partner is Irish and loves soda bread - guess I can make that in bread maker - does anyone know? It can just be an oven can't it?
Kat, sorry to hear about the house move - it's very unsettling and takes me ages to settle - hope it's easier for you.
Good luck everyone today.1 debt in 100 days £48.43/£374 - over 10% paid!

Checking in this morning. Today is a spendy day, have to buy a stamp, some bananas and foodbank bits, also have to call a plumber out as we have a problem with some taps AND I have to pay for DDs ballet gear (my mum is giving me the money back)
DH still doesn't seem to get that we have a shopping budget, he comes home with stuff that admittedly we need but he has paid for it. I try to explain that it is difficult for me to get a handle on what we are spending if he keeps buying food from his account. I have asked him to take a tenner from the shopping kitty with him so he can use that but he never remembers grrrrrrr.
I don't think he will ever have a lightbulb moment. I'm working so hard on our joint account and my account and he won't do the same, he carries on paying his minimum payments and thats it.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

You don't need a breadmaker to make soda bread, it's a fast rise because it's made with bicarb as a raising agent and requires little kneading. I have a recipe which takes about 50 minutes from start to finish. You could use it as an oven I guess.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -

Morning! Just a quick hello before work. I think today will be a spend day as I am planning to pop to the supermarket after work for a few bits. Depends if I have time though but M really needs some more school shirts so thought I'd do sainsburys and get both. Should only need half an hour as really don't need much. Milk, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, spring to mind - I will take a list.
eBay parcels to post but buyers pay postage on those so that won't count. Will do it today or tomorrow.
Have a good day.'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -

Should be a sfd today, don’t need to spend anything.DD has ballet tonight but OH will be paying for that I think. Other than that, I’venothing to report. Brought last night’s leftovers for lunch today. If I’m nottoo tired I’ll try and do some decluttering tonight. Our bedroom certainlyneeds it.
