Hi all! Sorry for late check in hope everyone has had a good day? not had chance to check all the threads for today yet.
Im here declaring SFD #3!! Woooohoooo!! so pleased. And hubby gets paid tomorrow so I will draw out the rest of our monthly budget and pop it in our "budget envelopes". This is really working well for us - if theres no money in the account we cant use our debit cards. if we dont take cash with us in the morning we cant spend so we're saving a fortune - its fab!
Today I was on training, lunch was provided free so I'm declaring my first free lunch day. I can if I want have a hot meal at work free of charge every day if I want (as can everyone else who works there - im not anyone special or anything lol) so provided I remember to order mine before 10am on the day I want it, thats taken care of for the rest of the month - *hurries off to set a reminder on phone*.
If I can keep my spendy days for the weekend (food shopping trips and anything else that is needed planned to buy all in one day) then I may be able to make the goal of 25 SFDs...........fingers, legs and toes crossed.
Enjoy your evening hope youre all enjoying the challenge!0 -
So my landlady announced she is getting married. It was her 1 year anniversary with her boyfriend tonight. He is moving in in February and I have to move out... So annoyed... For those of you who don't know I already moved in April.. And the January before that.. Kinda getting sick of this now...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Lovely bright modern office, and a job I know I will be good at.
Walked to work, walked home for lunch, going to do that everyday, or bike.
Didn't manage to not spend, needed some bits of food for dinner tonight and dinner tomorrow night too. (£8.40) Got home and the teenagers had used all toilet paper, arrrrgh will have to buy that tomorrow now.

I don't have any plans to buy any beauty/personal hygiene products, and the only cleaning product I need is some washing-up liquid.
Hi everybody,
Well, in the spirit of decluttering I was rooting around in a cupboard with my sights set on a part bottle of fabric conditioner that I decided I would use up for good (don't buy it anymore) and I found a part 4 litre bottle of washing up liquid :T. So after a little bit of decanting I now have a brand new full bottle of detergent plus some surplus. Result! I concede that I haven't actually decluttered anything
, but now I don't need to buy any washing-up liquid :j
After that joyous tale here are the scores on the doors:-
Two more SFDs in the bag - not a penny has been spent since Friday.

Petrol 0 / 225.00

Dentist 0 / 18.75
Total 500.00 GBP
SFD 3 / 25

Extra money earned/made 0 / 80.00

End of day 4 figure 93129 } driven 121km (75.63 miles)
On Sunday I did a bit of batch cooking and baking, and made 12 cupcakes, a banana loaf (brown bananas from the freezer), cooked some mince to make Beef Cobbler/Shepherd's Pie for later in the week, chicken soup and lentil soup. So felt very virtuous :A
Today I had my dental appointment which ended up not costing me anything as I didn't have any work done to my teeth that was outside the benefits plan. So that's 18.75 that's gone into my Mortgage OP Pot. As I don't often find myself in town mid week with nothing to do I was very tempted to do the usual stuff, ie window shopping/browsing and having lunch. Instead I reminded myself that I didn't need anything and that I had a pan of soup, that I made on Sunday, ready and waiting at home.
So I had my soup, then a snooze, and now I'm off to make some cookies.
All in all I've had a pretty good weekend, the only downside is that it's snowing. Bah humbug! I just try to not look outside

I'm sorry to hear that Kat.
My son had to keep moving out of rental places as he was dancing to other people's tunes. It's hard and upsetting. I hope some stability comes your way soon.0 -
Well good morning all! I have just missed my train cause I faffed about looking for a book I wanted to read ! Now I have ample time to read it - botheration! Ha!
Yes the house move could not be more annoying. This will be the tenth move in 13 years or so! The easy answer would be to rent my own place again but I really don't want the expense of that or the bills that come with it. I will look at bedsits though but it just isn't easy with a cat and a motorbike! I don't like that she told me right before I went to bed as well. It's like the chickens route out and she told me I have to put my travel off to accommodate her wedding which is scheduled for after I leave. Nice of her to want me there but I am no longer willing to accommodate anyone else's plans within mine! Does that sound harsh? I just have a goal that's all!
She is a lovely land lady though and has every right to turf me out and she has given me ample time. Guess this means a bigger clear out in order to take somewhere smaller and cheaper! Which means the rough end of town!..#groan.
Won't be able to check in later as I have to share a computer ( yup that's right) with my line manager today as there are not enough free desks in my 'new' office! What a palava.
So the surplus funds I end the year will go to a house deposit. Honestly I am so annoyed!!!!
SFD on the cards for me. Library visit and possibly cinema. And the gym at work. But shall see how I feel!!
Onwards and Upwards Chickadees!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. thriftylass wrote: »That's my problem too as I constantly snack on fruit, so it doesn't go off but is gone.
But often it's difficult to even if I have enough make sure that bananas, apples and grapes etc are still edible after a week, also since I don't have enough space in the fridge to store fruit and some veg that could be stored there. With veg I either batch cook or use fresh veg at the start of the week (like peppers, potatoes, carrots etc. Then towards the end I start using my stash of frozen veg like peas, beans and sweetcorn.
Did anyone see this article about Recession hits family spending on fresh food where they say people buy more starchy filling food now to save money. What do you think? I still buy loads of fresh (or frozen fresh) fruit and veg and just make them last longer or use them more senasibly, or buy them in cheaper shops. Or rather than expensive blueberries I buy apples in Aldi's 5 and veg that are in season.
That's a really interesting, but very sad, article. That 33% increase in food cost is something we have all felt I'm sure. I am reluctant to stop buying fresh or reduce my budget for fruit and veg but I can see that always having it in, and going to the shop for a top up isn't wise as it leads to add-on spending. So, if I understand you correctly you buy fresh fruit and veg as well as frozen and use up your fresh first, then use frozen. That's a good way of going about it and I will try that. I think that to prevent any need for the shops I will also buy milk to freeze. Thanks for the tip! Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!
