    Also - I need to change my signature as I am now in debt - you all convinced me that getting the Justin Timberlake tickets was a good idea so I'm now £210 worse off! Will also be adding my annual season ticket train pass to my credit card at the start of December so will add that to my sig too (have saved £325 towards it).

    I will update properly this evening but ....

    MY DEBT IS UNDER £3000 :j:j:j:j

    I've paid a lot into the cards but now I have no money for the rest of the month so have to be really careful not to spend on silly things. 20 SFDs here I come :rotfl:

    well ive just done my shopping and by changing supermarket i have managed to half, yes HALF!!! my shopping bill. Usually I budget for £80 for 5 of us per week but knocked that down slightly. having done my almost full shop for the week at aldi its cost me £39.86. Amazing. Filled my car up today too usually £40 but £29 odd due to the recent decrease in petrol prices. Even though its been a spend day, ive saved a fortune so Im happy.

    Im new to all this and cannot believe Im asking to join in but I need to so badly as Im out of control! May need help, support and a kick up the bum!
  • One step at a time for me. Going to try the 25 NSDs this month as I've been so skint lately that I've been doing them anyway but not by choice! I've not missed mooching around the shops mind you so I'mgoing to sort out the food budget and add that to my signature this weekend. Won't forget to add the £3 for the food bank....there but for the grace etc.
  • Lovely-cup-of-tea ... would you therefore like to be number 70...?

    * Documenting and planning:
    I have drawn a lot of charts, including my own calendar month (so we can identify our five spend days), meal planners (a weekly meal planner with a shopping list at the bottom for a maximum of 14 items) and a budget list with space to write how much is spent and how much is left.

    * Aiming for 25 spend free days:
    Wow... so that means only five shopping days. This actually won't be that difficult as I only need to get 20 spend free days. As you may have read, I am taking my mum, auntie and cousin to Paris in November and budgetted holidays are classed as spend free days.

    * Money planning at the beginning of the month:
    Erm... this one will be tricky as I am generally a "sort things out as the month progresses" sort of person so the idea of sticking to a plan right from the word goes is a bit scary. Petrol costs is one of the main things for me on here so petrol budget is £50.

    * Food budget:
    Okay, we are going to be strict this month as I am away for five days, we have heaps in the freezer and have lots of meal options available... so... food budget is going to be £120. Fingers crossed it goes as good as I think it will.

    * Food bank donation:
    Easy peasy and I now have a list of the sort of things they like. So that is £3 (but taken from food budget).

    * One outing this month:
    I have no idea what the one outing will be but I will figure it out. We have disneyland this month so that will be a lot of outings (all budgetted for though). So will have to have a think.

    * Lunch every working day:
    Easy peasy and no point in taking money as they don't serve food (well, they do but I won't eat any of it). So that is the £5 envelope not required. (Will put it in my "holiday" pot).

    * Stuff to charity:
    This seems do-able. I have heaps of stuff that I never use so I am sure I can find 20 things to donate.

    * Make £80:
    I will probably cheat at this and work an extra shift as it is pretty much the only way I know to make that amount of money in a month.

    * No coffee shops:
    Woohoo!! One I can definitely achieve as I don't drink tea or coffee and don't have a coffee shop near me. (Closest one is about 14 miles away).

    * Beauty buys:
    Shouldn't need to buy anything this month as I bought some extras (that were cheap) last month. Budget is £10 though.

    TOTAL BUDGET FOR NOVEMBER IS: £185.

    So I have £400 budget every month.

    £150 - changing to euros for my holiday.
    £50 - giving to my dad to save for me.
    £185 - budget for this month.
    £15 - going into the "holiday" pot.

    Sorry for the repeated huuuuuuuuuuuge long post.

    In an updated version: My Dad text me today to say that I was able to pay £200 to my credit card and he paid £100 to my bank of mum and dad debt from my wages this month.
    :D

    This is a big difference as I have been borrowing from my parents because I cut my hours (long story but I promise as stupid as it sounds financially, it was the right decision) and couldn't afford to pay my debts so my dad gave me some extra money. I owe them £500 (well, now £400).
    :)

    Sorry again for the long post and hope everyone is remaining positive.
    Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91
    Savings: £0/£6400

  • Good afternoon folks.... £9.30 of my readjusted £110 food budget spent. This was on weird things at the Tesco near me that my local doesn't do... I shan't be putting it in my signature cause I like the "last one standing" comment to stand alone and shiver...:rotfl:

    Mrs Toast - so happy for you!!!

    Lillian1977 - considering you have been waiting for 6 years I think this kind of debt is worth the extra effort to pay off.... I love how you said "you lot convinced me".....:)

    Anna2825.... if its your first month I will implore you to sign in every day without fail and confess any mis-givings, ask for advise etc and generally get to know every one. Feel free to post your story/journey so we know where you are coming from... however Stewby was new last month and is already back for more....:T

    Gien - I am happy for money to go to any good cause in the area that you see fit. I know some rural areas might not have a food bank...

    PurpleJay you are starting easrly aren't you - 21 items already!!! Superb!

    Katie26 - for you as well... check in everyday and talk to us. If you have had a bad day we will try and console you although we might question you now and then but we all like getting to know each others habits, sharing failures and successes and generally keeping each other in check...

    Right enough from me right now...... I am finished at 1530 and will head home to drop off my bags, then head out again to hit Hey Diddle Lidl's with free hands and coupons to hit Tescimos.....:T:T:T

    You genuinely did! I hadn't been on the board for a while as I was just so fed up with being skint that I wasn't in the mood for it. So next time I logged on I saw all the messages saying to just go for it - and so I did! CAN'T WAIT! x
