I'm ready! Will post budgets when I can get onto laptop. Had planned to do shop for kiddie Halloween party today but have to spend tomorrow anyway so will wait until then.

    Good luck all!

Well I've been waiting for the start of November with anticipation! Strangely excited about doing this challenge (remind me of that when I start moaning towards the end!).

25 nsd is going to be a bit difficult but I've been trying to plan when and what we should spend. Grocery shopping is definitely our downfall - we do a main shop on Thursday and get a veg box delivered then. We also normally do a shop on Sunday and also often Tuesday as well, plus bits from the corner shop! We are 4 in our family, but also childmind so buy food for a significant number of children per week, plus another person as we host foreign students too. I think I might still have to do a mini shop on Sundays just for the childminded children for fresh fruit and milk, but I will try not to.

Outings planned for this month - today cinema (tesco vouchers) and fireworks (already paid for). Will get the boys to take their pocket money to pay for glo sticks etc if they want them.
Tomorrow - friends wedding -already budgeted for present.
London trip - counting that as holiday as all budgeted for.
Sons birthday party - mainly paid for, got £16 to buy food for kids.

May also plan another tesco voucher trip or meal out towards end of month.

Have already put oldest sons dinner money and bus money in envelopes for this month, plus other planned spending (toddler groups, parking, haircuts for the boys).

Don't spend money on beauty things or put them into main shopping budget.

DH is going to eBay some things to make the extra money, but we are also getting a bit more work towards the end of the month so that will probably be more than the £80.

Food bank - my church is setting up a new food bank this month so I will buy them some things when they have started.

What have I forgotten?! That's probably enough for now - going to be hard enough doing my first nsd!
    Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 600

    Morning all,

I'm so glad it's NOvember and excited fir the new challenge :)

My money totals run 25th to 25th so I have already spent a bit. I also started the decluttering last night. What you said about other people potentially needing these items NSK, really made me think. I've thrown away several things that I kept because I liked them, even though they had no use to me anymore :)

Today was supposed to be a SFD but a good friend invited me for a walk around town and a spot of window shopping (I haven't been to town for months). I'm planning on getting the bus, using my prepaid bus card (although the weather looks horrendous - may be a chicken and take the car) and then hopefully the only spend will be a drink whilst we have a natter. I'm already disappointed in myself for agreeing to go but have spent the last week sat at home alone whilst on holiday, avoiding spending, and I've turned down a night out today and tomorrow, so I guess it's not all bad.

Good morning everyone. I'm hopeful for November that I can keep track through the whole month. We are hoping to pay off one credit card by the end of the year so need to be very strict.

I have decided on budgets for the month but as I get tax credits weekly I'll be working from them most of the time. Any left over at the end of the week goes towards the cc or savings.

Petrol £31.07/£120 (put some in on payday which was last week)
Food £0.89/£120 or £30/wk (had to buy some milk yesterday)
    Children's/family entertainment £0/£40 or £10/wk
    Xmas £0/£40
    Birthdays £0/£10
Outings £0/£95 (already booked but not paid for)
    Clothing £0/£10

It's also my birthday on Sunday which is one of the outings, dinner with DH on Saturday night without kids :T. I'm hoping we can go out for the day on Sunday but it'll probably be a NT property and a picnic so free. I think I read last month that organised children's activities could be classed as a SFD as we have playgroup today. I will be taking £10 for xmas as well as there are 2 stalls but if nothing jumps out at me for somebody I won't be spending any. I do need baby's formula today but I think I've still got some of that budget left from last month so that doesn't count either does it???? I will update my sig this evening once kids are in bed.

Can't wait until Kat is DF, you're such an inspiration to us all and you've worked so hard :A

Morning all and happy November! May it be a thrifty one for all of us.

My budgets and targets are as follows:-

    Food 0/200 (loads in)
    Fuel 0/120
Hair - nothing will wait until Dec
    Toiletries 0/10
    Food bank 0/3

    Declutter 0/20
    Ebay/money making 0/80
    SFD 0/25

Today should be a spend free day for me. M (7) is going to the activity club at the leisure centre £5 for 4 hours but pre paid. We will take a snack from home to avoid the vending machines when I pick him up.

Don't need any groceries at the moment as did a big shop last week and a top up shop a couple of days ago. Also DH got some reduced bread from the Tesco express last night.

We are having a cooked breakfast today, sandwiches for lunch and then left over chilli for tea.

    Have a good day :D

  • GOOD MORNING!!! :T:T:T

Well now isn't it rather lovely to kick start NOvember on a bright and breezy day! I was SO tired last night having stayed up and the weeks activities having caught up on me that I slep through my alarm and was 40 minutes late for work. I am still going to try and sneak out as soon as I can. :T
So my budgets are a little boring.. I have £100 for food and £30 for mischellaneous spends which there clearly won't be much of. That's it... Although £199 on a travelcard... £52.. for the cinema monthly card and gym membership...

My big thing is food. I shall be making a list today. I MUST have a green smoothie everyday and need to ensure I have enough fruits/veg for that despite the minisule size of freezer/fridge space I am given. I think I might free some bottle of it inpreparation for the following day and frees up space in the fridge for everyday eating...

Having fresh fruit and veg everyday is something I can't live without. I will need to make sure I have a PROPER plan in place before buying anything today which is "food shop day"....

MrsToast how much is the CC standing at? If you have money from last month then so be it.... I don't think you can sit and umm and ahhhh about baby formula so I shall turn a blind eye this once...:rotfl:...

Kerfuffle you have £62.50 for hair... what do you get done or is this for the whole family? Have you considered the local college for cheaper cuts? I like that you are tracking petrol. I calculated that on my 650cc bikes 62 miles per hour was the optumim least spending/petrol comsumption speed for me to travel at. A full tank lasted about 250 miles and I only pay about £23 per tank up...

Glad some of you liked my poem. Took weeks to think that up....;)

    Good morning!!

Love the poem NSK its fab! £3.71 has hit my account from tcb so im already on a roll and submitted my mileage claim through work (does that count towards the money making??)

Today wont be a sfd i need to do a big shop, i can have a lunch everyday at work free so that is taken care of, budgets are sorted out. Havent told hubby the full ins and outs of this challenge "lets not go too far with the scrimping" he said.........if only he knew ;)

Have a good day everyone happy 1st november!
  • I will take any way of making money that you can as long as it's hard cash that you can use to add to debts or bolster a "pot" that you have created or pay for Christmas...

Ok, here's my non-preallocated budget (so, not including regular bills, mortgage etc) for November

    Petrol 0/£67.50
    Groceries 0/£200
    'Outings' 0/£30
    Food Bank 0/£3

    --

    Lunches 1/21
    SFD 0/25
    Declutter 3/20
    Make extra 0/£80
    Not using GCH 0/30

I have two 'outings' planned, they're quasi-work and both organised last month. Normally, I have no outings at all, and haven't really been out for months (young children) so as long as I stick to my budget of £15 each, I won't feel guilty about having two instead of the one that Kat has said.

I have a mystery shop planned for the weekend and I am also hoping that some cash back becomes payable too.

    Good luck everyone!
