  • Finally got to 15 NSDs - phew! Might make 17...

    Fyggy Congratulations on the job!

Grrrr to oh who has increased our mortgage by 1600 without telling me! No need to give details. He says he thought he'd told me what he was going to use the money for; I beg to differ! Simply feel very let down and disappointed, especially as my previous suggestion had involved using a 0% cc, but now we're paying interest. Grrr. But I'll get over it soon enough.

Decided to turn to something nice and give money matters the cold shoulder for the night! So I've been through my present list to see what I need to buy and what I need to make. I think it's looking good...! Taking dd to the £shop on Sat to buy a star for the tree and to get bits + bobs for people. Then 'all' I need to do is knit 16 fingerpuppets (or is it 20?) and coat some marshmallows in choc and put in kilner jars. That'll happen nearer Christmas.

Got my students' work re-marked today, which was a big job. I'd promised them yesterday that I would do it by tomorrow, as it's easy to put it off and a deadline fixed with teenagers is immovable!

Rambling on here has helped me feel rather less peeved. Thank you!

    Evening all,

fyggy CONGRATULATIONS on the job :)

NSK I'm so excited for your DFD :) Well done! Also a big well done for not yelling at LLL about affecting your Christmas! That's very controlled of you :)

Another spend day today, and this one was pure gluttony. OH and I were both craving a takeaway and since yesterday was payday, I said I'd treat us! Tomorrow, is likely to be a spend day too as I'm going to a Christmas open evening of a lovely local gift shop. I am going to write a list of possible presents I could buy, if there is something suitable and suitably inexpensive, and not deviate from the list!

Tomorrow is also OHs payday, so I will be collecting the usual monies he has borrowed over the month and using the money to pay off more of my ccard :) Luckily, I have his internet banking log on details ;)

This week is seeming fairly positive :). Lots of work to do, but not an impossibly crazy amount. Got lots planned for the next few weeks but I've set budgets for each event/activity to keep me on track, whilst enjoying the festive events :)

    Hope you are all ok

    Hi everybody,

Congratulations on getting the job Fyggy.

So I need to report a couple of negatives. One is that I had a spend day today as my local supermarket has cheese on offer, and the offer finishes on Friday so it would have been silly of me to miss out on the offer, even if it does mean I've racked up another spend day and have gone over my food budget by even more.

I've also bought a second-hand rocking chair which I wasn't planning on purchasing but again I didn't feel as though I could let it pass me by.

On the plus side I've decluttered some more items and have taken an exer-saucer, 2 piggy money boxes and a Nice & Easy hair dye to the charity shop.

So scores on the doors are:-

    Food 221.60 / 187.50 118.19%
    Petrol 138.13 / 225.00 61.39%
    Local food bank 4.28 / 3.00 142.6%
    Hair 56.25 / 62.50 90% (Cut, colour and tip)
Works Xmas Party 0 / 3.25 (Raffle contribution - goes to local charity)
Dentist 18.75 / 18.75 (Had my appointment and no costs were incurred so 12.50 has gone to a gift contribution and 6.25 has gone into the Mortgage OP Pot.)

    Total 439.01 / 500.00 GBP 87.80%

    SFD 19 / 25
    Declutter 16 / 20
    Extra money earned/made 0 / 80.00
    Misc Spends 70.79 / 0 :naughty:
    Kilometres:
    Start of challenge figure 93008 }
End of day 26 figure 94767} driven 1759km (1099 miles)
  • Morning all.

A massive CONGRATULATIONS to Fyggy! Well done!! :T.. This is what the debt busting monster in you wants to here... When do you start?

I spent more money yesterday. On food. I now have precisely £306.47 on my CC but thankfully my payslip says I am getting £57 more than I expected which means I can still stash £450 for the impending house move. And to whomever asked no I still have had no luck in finding a place. Somewhere always comes up but it's fustrating all the same. :o

My DFD is technically Monday but I am going to call them on Friday and see if the last remainder bit can be paid off over the phone then come Monday morning when the bank automatically takes the £297.43 I will be done..:T

However I feel like death warmed up this morning and achy all over. Which obviously means I am coming down with something. So I have a hot water bottle on the go at my desk and a hot lemon and agave nectar... Honestly it's like I have been beaten to a pulp and my head is pounding despite the 400mg of killer tablet I just swallowed 20 minutes ago...

I also think a small present for each family member and the dinner I had planned shall go ahead on the soon to be clear CC and the money coming in from all my shifts in January will easily cover this. I can't not treat my family ( thank you for noticing how reserved I am with LLL - she is not a bad peson, and has every right to ask me to move on it's just untimely)... I just need to think what I could buy them all now.

Glad everyone is looking forward to December's challenge. I have it written I just need to make sure I am focused enough to make sure it makes sense... and yes it's a lot simpler this time...:rotfl:

AppleMuncher what a jolly great surprise that would have been. Has he spent the money that you had put asie to make over payments? I would not be a happy bunny a all! It sounds like you are well planned for Christmas though...

Tiptoes so cool you have a brand spanking new spreadsheet. I will be doing the same come January time. All shiny and blank ready to be filled in with EVERYTHING!

LoveADove - cameras covering lights are few and far between are they not... they would need millions of them across the country. I am sure you are okay though - me - not so sure... I have the money put aside now though!

Forgive me folks my eyes and spinninghead won't let me focus much more. I am signing off until a little later...

    Onwards and Upwards!!

    Good morning,

today should be SFD number 21, will pick my Euros up today (paid for from the travel pot) and will ignore all the shops I pass on the way.

Just remembered, BIL's girlfriend showed me her new shoes on the weekend. Ugg leatherboots for £200 :eek: in the sale. That would buy me two full wardrobes :rotfl::rotfl:. But then they have no kids and for some reason she stays with her parents at 35.

Oh and also forgot to tell you, we started looking at wedding venues. Getting rather excited now. We first set a budget before we started looking, a number we would be happy to spend and could at least 80% save up till autumn next year. Had a look at two places and hopefully see a third (my favourite, old country house with lovely grounds etc) on Friday. All of them should cost us (incl. booking some rooms for relatives, bus hire, dress hire etc) less than 60% of our set budget :T. I know a friend paid £4.5k for his but had only 30 people there all day. We'll have 60 at day time and another 50 at night and should be able to do it for the same money as we can save on photographer (usually £1k, got a relative who works for the papers), our rooms will be cheaper, the cake comes from a friend, and a friend is a DJ (still pay them some though).

Was really worried when OH said now that we are getting married he wants to do it "properly". But it seems achievable for a budget I am happy with (our set budget would have been to high for me, but it's ok now as we get it well under.

I don't think we'll do a honeymoon though, well, it's not been mentioned. With then two kids, my mum's 60th and the next christmas coming after the wedding, I rather get a new front door before the next winter ;)

Made it back from the bank without entering a shop, yay. Thought I'd pick up a bread for DS dinner, but then remembered we still got some in the bread bin that'll be fine toasted and I could just back another one tonight to last till Saturday.

Thanks NSK. Twas indeed a jolly great surprise! I do understand the 'why', though that doesn't help much! Oh well, take a deep breath and carry on. And no, it wasn't money I'd set aside for OPs; it's money that we'd paid off the mortgage and now have to pay off again. Humph. With interest. Double humph. And it's probably about 3 or 4 months worth of savings if we live super carefully. Triple Humph. And by that I mean me doing the super careful bit. Quadruple humph.

    Enough humphs!

I do hope your head and aches diminish soon. I'd hate for the December challenge to be finalised while you are in that befuddled state!! Goodness only knows what challenges you'd think were reasonable!
