Well done JCD - it's great that something positive is happening for you and hope the other stuff is just heat of the moment and nothing comes of it on his part (or yours for that matter, we need you here - there's no MSE in jail... I don't think!). If you ever want to chat about self-employment or general stuff do get in touch - hell I'm 31 and 'rown up' still doesn't apply to me - however most of my family and friends would prob say that running your own business is more than grown up! I have never been one of those (annoying) people that knew what they wanted to be at age 11. I just knew I loved travelling and that I didn't like maths... have now travelled loads (and always will), and manage to work in book-keeping and organise peoples personal finance... so in some ways I do like maths after all! Only the money-saving stuff though - I am sure you find the same with your business - maybe at one point you hated maths, but not when it comes to calculating your profits! xMFW #185

Thanks EL, I may very well take you up on that offer of chat. I'll be keeping print offs of whatever I buy in and sell along with other things like P+P and fees, I don't want to be in a right mess when thoose confusing forms need filled in for ILR. You're right, I HATE maths. But when I was a manager doing the weekly takings sheets, proffit and loss stuff ect all came to me quite easily. Probably because I enjoyed my job and took pride in the fact that my store achieved the best retention of pence in the pound in our region!Well done on ebay!! Cheers m'dear. As usual though, it's £1.99 better off in your pocket. I'm sure you'll find more to list what with the kids growing at the rate kids do. Should the sale all go smoothly then I'll be £345 up after postage is taken into account. Not a bad start and hopefully a sign of things to come!Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

My buyer emailed me today to say she forgot to take my address down so didn't post the cheque off on Saturday. She'll be posting today and says that the cheque she'll be sending should clear instantly. I don't understand. I thought cheques take five forking days to clear, is she talking about a bankers draft (not that I actually know what that is)?
Also, is there anything I can do to keep myself safe with regards to a cheque being called back after payment? I'm not saying she'll do this, I just want to make sure I've got my bases covered and I'm aware fully of what, if anything, could go wrong.

JCD, I'm in a hotel, near alton towers, OH will kill me if he catches me on here, i promised i would only bring it incase work call with urgent questions i have to answer, Please PLEASE honey DON'T accept a cheque. In the police we had so many complaints of cheques that appear to have cleared, only to be worked out as fraudulent when the REAL cheque number 000001 is used a month later. If she doesn't want to use paypal tell her to send a postal order, if she has already sent the cheque destroy it when you have received it. If she's a serious buyer she'll understand. Right must dash, off to have fun tomorrow!!! xxxdebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0

Naughty Pania :rotfl: you ought to be out in the cool evening weather enjoying your holiday, missus
It was myself who asked for a cheque or bank transfer as payment. The buyer has given me both her home and business number, and business address. I checked theese out and it's legit. I see no real reason why the cheque should be iffy, but if something did go wrong I'd have an address to send the police to along with a file of all the corespondance between us. When I recieve the cheque I'll be scanning it and keeping it in the same file along with proof of postage of the items from my end. I was just being cautious is all, thanks for the advice hon xDebt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

I've been writing in my livejournal and locked doors in my head have opened. I need to speak to a doctor tomorow about seeing a counselor or psychologist. There are some things in my head which are vitually eating me alive, and I need professional and frequent help to get over them.
Forgive me if my updates are less frequent whilst I deal with this.
