I'm just wondering for people that think this, do you keep your pets out of the kitchen too?

I can understand the viewpoint, I'm just curious.

My old cat used to sleep in the room sometimes, when my ex was downstairs staying up late. As I lay on my side, she used to try to curl up on my shoulder with her face near enough in my ear so was always purring into my earhole, so I had to push her off, then she would move to my pillow and lay on the pillow but against my head and would pull my hair, had to move her away again. She would pretty much move all over until I had to push her away, and usually settled on under my arm which was fine, until my ex would come to bed, the door opening would startle her and she would take it out on my arm.

Not out of the kitchen but not on the worktops where food is prepared.

I imagine this is easier with a dog, but if I had a cat who did that then I would have to keep them out altogether.

For me, getting into a bed where an animal has been is a bit yukky:D

I have no problem at all with cats on beds, im less keen on dogs on beds for some reason. Probably as im not really a dog person.

I would happily have pets in the bed except for a paranoia that I'm going to roll over and squash them!
  • My cat has free run of the house. Sometimes I shut him out of the bedroom, if I want to ensure I don't get woke up at 5am! Or when the ex-OH was round as he has a tendency to pounce on things moving under cover :D (the cat not the ex!).

This thread has made me miss my little cat that died last year. I had two - the one still with me does sometimes do cuddles and he always purrs and dribbles, but he is very independent. The other was a little disabled so couldn't go out. She used to curl up on me every night, making snuffly noises and purring away.

Most mornings I'd wake up with her face in mine lying on my chest, or her lying on top of my head, so cute!
  • My four cats are allowed on the bed in the day but they stay locked downstairs at night otherwise I get woken up at stupid o'clock with them wanting food or meowing for attention lol!

If only my cat was so considerate about squashing me :D He has a 'charming' habit of waking me up at 4am by sitting on my head and pulling my hair.

Wouldn't shut him out though, he's my baby! :)

I used to think we might do that, but if we're in danger of getting in her space, ours subtly stretches a leg and kind of gently pokes you with her claws, just to let you know she's there!
