  • Evening everyone !! Welcome to the new comers, nice to have you back lil_me.

Bathroom is so very very nearly finished. A little bit of touch up paint work to go and the extractor fan to replace and it's done :)

Did a very quick fly around the kitchen, wiped the work tops and appliances down, put the dishwasher on and sorted through the fridge. There is no point cleaning the floor as most of it is covered in the contents of the lounge while that room gets done.

    Tomorrows list:
Touch up paint in the bathroom
    Remove stuff off the stairs
    Tidy understairs
Write list of DIY to do while off work

:( This has turned into an awful night, Wednesdays list I'll probably post in the morning. Will most likely be out from afternoon tomorrow. My very good friend text me tonight she's stuck abroad on holiday and her Dad has took a turn for the worse and is dying :( they are keeping him alive until 7pm tomorrow and she's just managed to get a flight back which lands tomorrow at 4pm so I think either me or my partner will have to go and get her and rush her back ASAP from the airport. Poor girl is pregnant and stuck out there, god knows what she is going through right now.

Right enough moaning, night time stuff to sort out, hopefully catch you all in the morning.
One day I might be more organised...........

I've just got off the phone to her again Grannynise, god knows what calls to Spain cost but at the minute I really don't care, I'm in credit with the phone bill anyway, thanks for the hugs, needed them. We grew up through senior school together and I spent a lot of time with her and her family as we were growing up, always called her Mam Mam etc, it's hit me hard so goodness knows how she's taking it. I can tell from her voice she's trying to be brave, she said part of her doesn't want to come home as they'd have to keep him alive, which I can understand. She just wants to be home with her Mam, I have offered to go and stay with her but her Mam said no she was ok but will be keeping phone with me just incase. The insurance company have been worse than useless, they still haven't even called her back since this morning, she's had to book a flight privately. We told her get a flight anywhere in the UK and we'd get her back but was the earliest she could get.

Oh forgot to add, LEA lady recognised my name (we've had run ins in the past) and didn't even argue about DS1s placement in the special school, all going well he should have the paperwork within 2 weeks to start there in September.

lil_me what terrible news for your friend I hope she gets back in time without the journey placing any more stress on her than is absolutely necessary. Keeping this thread up to date should be the last thing on your mind, I am glad your friend has you to help her at this desperate time. Hugs from me to you.

Excellent news about your DS's placement, at least you didn't have to battle for that.

AnW'sMum thank you, means a lot, keeping this thread going and the support (Which I am very thankful for) will probably keep me sane. Feel a little bad at the minute that there is nothing more I can do, but know it can't be helped. I should be asleep now but can't with worry. They found out her Dad was ill with cancer weeks after she found out she was pregnant and it's been an extremely stressful time for her. She's so upset that her Dad will not see her first child, understandable of course. Just got to try to be there for her as much as I can.

As for the battle, I was sat ready with a script expecting an argument, was a bit weird when she didn't as I'd psyched myself up for it so much.

  • lil_me what terrible news for your friend, and what a good friend you are, huge hugs to the pair of you.

sorry haven't managed to catch up on what everyone else has been up to, but I have the next 3 days off work (roll on 5.30pm), the first time off I've had this year.

If anyone wants to be nosy, there's some before and after photos of our bathroom here. The before pictures were taken just after we moved in.
