Well first day on this thread & I've spent all morning in the kitchen & i feel quite proud of it & myself (for a change) and I can see how doing it regularly will keep it under control. Still have a few more bits to do today but feeling positive.

How do you change colour and put lines through things?
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

    Hi Folks,
This is a rare opportunity for me now to be able to get near computer. I think I said last week that there are now 8 of us at home and WHAT A MESS they can make. Lounge looks like a tip, bags shoes etc everywhere. Cups, plates left all around too. All are 16 and over and I am sure bigger kids means bigger mess! I have got DS3 and his friend laying some paving stones and tomorrow they are going to put base in for wall of my much awaited store room.

I plan to do dailies and at least level one every day and to cajole all these sleepy students to spend less time lying around and more time helping/cleaning. It is truly amazing how quickly they can all mess up my kitchen/ cooker top etc. I tried to get DS3 to be toilet roll monitor and to make sure all three loos all have loo rolls and spares but he has already failed this weekend and let one run out!!

Afternoon to all. Been out all morning so not started yet.

New tactic for me this week - no carry overs. I will do what I can from the list each day and then wait for it to come around again. The levels is a great idea but I always try to do all of them and then feel that I have failed so this week a different approach.

I'm not getting very far at all today... seems to be lots of "not noticeable" jobs for me. Oh well, off to check my bank account (way too much spending!) and then I'll do all the "below waist level" stuff in the kitchen.

This is the first time I have posted on this thread.

I am quite new to internet forums but I have been struck at how really nice and supportive people are on this forum.

Background - the house looks like it has taken a direct hit. DS (6 months) is spending far too much time watching baby tv. I don't think I can afford to go back to work. The cats are sulking because stuff keeps getting moved. The challenge for today is not so likely to get finished for me - I can hardly get into my dining room, although the kitchen could be worse (and has been).

One thing I have noticed, how putting things on one of these threads really can help people - and I have noticed how good the people are on here when there is a problem.

    So....

I will aim for Level 1, and then I will try to tackle the Everest of ironing that is acting as such a stumbling block. There, I've put it in writing, now I have to try and stick to it.

BTW I have cut and pasted the challenge to a word document so that I can strike through as I achieve. I think that finding this thread may be the most useful thing I have done in a long time!

Well done hev! As you say putting it into writing does indeed help. Don't be too ambitious and start small, even one thing off the list will make a difference and then you will want to try more.

I find it helps to come and strike things through on the list as it feels like I am achieving something. Why not add to the list things like quality play time with the baby (trust me they grow up all too quickly) and some time for yourself. Good luck and yes this is a very supportive thread!

Is there a daily to-do list anywhere for this thread? I sometimes feel like typing one up on the old WP and printing loads of copies out so I can cross as I go.

(I am being a bit lazy, but I have just reduced the Everest of ironing to K2 size)

And is there a suggested weekly round. For example, I always try to change all bedding and towels on a Monday (washing and ironing them is another story). I have also tried (not kept to consistently) to make a meal planner on a Friday, to get the shopping on the weekend.

Anyway, about to do some washing, which will get the ironing up to Everest size again unless I get cracking on that as well, and I really could do with trying to finish the cross stitch for my uncle's birthday, and I have not crossed off a thing from the list yet....

But my little boy just smiled at me so all is alright :)
