No but as has been said you will need to light the gas hob another way and you might have no heating as the pumps are electric powered even if you are thinking 'GCH'..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I'm certainly not panicking, I had every prep in in the first place and just made sure all was up to date and ready for use. I don't think I'm panicking, just getting prepared for possible disruption of everyday life due to a weather event over which I have no control, better safe than sorry?0

We have enough food/water etc but wanted to make sure I didn't forget about the pets so stocked up on cat and dog food. Been out in the garden and moved anything that could potentially become a missile or get damaged so feel I am pretty much prepared if the storm does come our way. We currently have an amber warning where we are.0

Now I'm worried that we might lose electricity after reading some of the posts on here.
I think I'm going to make sure that my kindle is charged just in case and make some pasta salad and rice salad type things to keep in the fridge at the weekend.
Cat and dog food and cat litter is all stocked up. The Asda delivery people must think I'm weird as I have about 5 bags a week delivered.0 -
Re putting crosses of tape on windows, it was found not to work in Hurricane Katrina.
You can effect an emergency repair of sorts with clear sticky film such as for covering books (£ Store) which could hold certain kinds of glass which were cracked but not actually broken out. I have some by me anyway for other purposes but it could be deployed in an emergency.
Apparently our glorious leaders use floor-length net curtains with weighted hems at Downing Street - they are supposed to contain flying glass in the event of a bomb. If the windows are looking dodgy, close your curtains and try to avoid lingering in front of glass.
If it all goes horribly wrong, under the stairs or in a large cupboard are the safest places.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

garden was battened down yesterday and I managed to get to the tip to remove potential missiles from the property, everthing is charged, and know where candles and camping cooker is in case of power outage.:AA/give up smoking (done)0

Mahoosive amount of rain here in northeast, thunder lightening (I love storms)...and alarms going off all over.
Got to go out to night shift in it soon too. The roads will be terrible.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Safe drive, calicocat, and anyone else who's going to be out tonight.

We drove along the lowest road in the town on the way home - it's just above sea level. Sand was whipping everywhere and most cyclists were not using the prom but the landside pavement, a swinging pub sign was horizontal in some gusts and the car was shaking when stationary. Gusts were approx. 21 mph according to the BBC.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0

I live in a seaside town in south wales.
If the storm realises its potential and predicted path then its coming my way.
House insurance is up to date so that's one thing.
Battening down tomorrow and picking things up. I might have to stay in the polycarb greenhouse in an attempt to stop it blowing 100 foot in the air.0
