Everyone panicking yet you do all forget how utterly useless our weather forecasters are don't you?
Likely to be a bit overcast with a bit of rain.Pants0 -

Yes, I'm hoping this one isn't October 1987 revisited.
I'll never forget lying in bed that night listening to things moving around in the loft, where wind was getting in through gaps.
Also, going to work the next morning, the unbelievable amount of trees down and walls that had been blown over.
I'll be getting torches and candles ready and the battery operated radio, just in caseEarly retired - 18th December 2014

When you went through the 1987 storm, something like this is a concern, especially as its the same time of yearEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Ah, my DD was a few days old in the big storm & we were living in London suburbs. Midwife (Dorothy!) arrived for her daily check quite windswept, having driven on the pavements at times to get round trees etc.
My parents was in London too. My mum thought she went blind after my birth because everything went black! lol xFuture goals:

Like I stated I haven't experienced anything like this "so called" storm approaching. But I don't want to leave anything to chance either.Future goals:

:eek:Now I regret the "eating out of the cupboards" challenge of the last few weeks to get our spends down.
At least today is payday so I can restock the store cupboards with emergency rationsMFiT challenge #60

Weather forecast for where I am in cheshire mentions nothing about a storm. Hopefully it will miss us as I can't afford to be running out buying things 'just in case' sadly0

The storm is still developing a long way from the UK yet. The forecasters are unclear at the moment exactly where it will hit. Could be Northern France that gets the worst of it or it could be us.
I've spent an hour or so in the garden, putting everything away into the shed and pegging the cloches down.
I've got enough food for a week, also got candles, matches and a wind up radio/torch.
Let's hope it's not as bad as they are saying.0 -
Beware of leaving the car where it can be hit by flying tiles off nail sick roofs.
Beware of empty wheely bins with a mind of their own.
Pick the last of the apples before the storm hits.0 -
I also put masking tape criss crosses on the window.
Does that work?Goldiegirl wrote: »Yes, I'm hoping this one isn't October 1987 revisited.

I remember it too, waking up and hearing the howling wind outside.
I have to get my DH to batten down the structure we have in our garden as the panelling is coming off.
I bought lots of batteries and we have a wind up torch as well as quite a few battery powered ones.0
