Just checked the BBC weather forecast for Swansea:32mph on Sunday and lots of rain
I've just emptied half of the water butt.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
princess, I see you are in bristol. SW to be badly hit (also the south and slightly to midlands) as it goes up the bristol channel and tracks. We are also in line as in that sw area. The worst of the storm is likely to be a bit south of where met o is saying and northern france is likely to be badly hit too. 1987 storm was absolutely terrible, I remember our large dg patio windows bowing and people at work had windows blown out and got calls to go home. I shut the curtains because of the danger from glass. I also put masking tape criss crosses on the window. Am expecting just as bad but better windows since then as we moved from s wales. No one anywhere should take it forgranted that they won`t get a hit as building and river channels affect the flow and the jet stream is moving wildly and eratically
Keep an eye on the weatheraction link and/or the site as he does give a lot of hints esp re tracking and he is the only one I absolutely trust re weather
Am going to charge everything up today, including ds lite so we can play scrabble, tablets and kindle too as can get very boring sitting it out
I too hate wind, very very scary unpredictable stuff
Re food, am making bread now as will keep nice if not cut. Butter, jam, tinned salmon, milk and cereal. Fruit in bowl. Not much else needed unless you are at flood risk when water is good. Vac flasks will be filled sunday night and used for dishes if not needed, then refilled as needed0 -
Hi Kittie, any more info on the risk of early snow this year?
I always look for your posts on here about the weather as they're always really accurate!0 -

No, but if you have a gas hob with an electric ignition you will need a match or some other means of lighting it.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -

copyright so cannot say much at all, look out for hints though. I spent a lot on money on a sub as tbh we got it back quickly through not booking various things and I can share the whole forecasts with immediate family, which I do hence for me it is sub/4 so pretty good. Pc has to battle every inch of the way re the earth warming scams that have been going on re green energy money etc. I don`t begrudge the sub one little bit
Re snow, dh is flying down on 8th nov and we have to go a fair way to get him, bearing in mind that we get cut off here as all lanes are steeply downhill to here. We all thought `great he is doing his christmas visit early` as usually we have stomach churning conditions ie will it won`t it. Ironic as 80% chance on that date
gas on hob and fire won`t go out but ch won`t work. We are all ectric hence me being so well prepared
Fully ready now and about 12 items are charging for me and dh. Candles set in good areas and matches handy. Will do the rest on sunday0 -
Ok thankyou!!
Hope all is ok for your dh visit. x0 -

thanks for thatdidn't think so, but thought i'd double check.
just thinking of cooking alternatives, our son is autistic and eats very limited foods, but along as the hob will work if the power is out he'll be fine foodwise at least0 -
Thanks for the heads up Kittie.
We're all electric here too - Hence more worry!!Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -

Ah, my DD was a few days old in the big storm & we were living in London suburbs. Midwife (Dorothy!) arrived for her daily check quite windswept, having driven on the pavements at times to get round trees etc.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
