Just the second time I've travelled outside London. Not sure about the road names. Also I have driven through the toll during office hours, but I have no idea how it's like off the toll road.
  • Not a lot unless you travel in rush hour.

    Devon to Manchester

Then you'll be nowhere near it. :j and pointless to use it mid morning.

The M6 is great if you are not on it between 6:30 am and 10am and 4pm to 7pm (except on a Friday when it's rubbish from 2pm onwards until about 8pm) I'm about to head to Liverpool from Derby at about 3pm as I have a date (with my wife :rotfl:- taking her to the Playhouse Theatre for 7.30pm) This means I'll hit it at 4pm but will be okay as it's Thursday and it keeps moving.

The toll doesn't bypass Lymm to Sandbach!

Why are you asking about a journey you've already taken?

I never said it did. I said after queueing down that stretch the toll then provides a relief

drove back from manchester to london early evening. not a problem at all. m6 and then m1 and into the city.

getting out of manchester and getting into london was the most annoying part - didn't even notice any slowdowns half way through the journey (around birmingham).

The only reason why i slipped into the the m6 toll route on the way to manchester was because i read the large sign "m6 toll clear" - i interpreted this as "toll clear" as in free. Also the dot matrix price board for tolls was powered off so it seemed like it was free. Pretty sure that was deliberate to catch people unaware.

    never again.

I have never heard 'clear' used to mean 'free' (of charge) but yes they do it to persuade more customers as it's under-used and losing money.

Lol, and i suppose if you have a 'parking fine' sticker on your windscreen, you take it as a compliment?
