I don't use toll roads as a matter of principal.

    I'd avoid France then.

I feel like a horse coming out of the stalls on that toll road.

    Who needs the Nurburgring?

I really hope this post is sarcastic.

Given they plan on hitting the M6 at 10AM, this route will drop them onto the M25 in the middle of rush hour.

Really? like any serious person who recommend that route? read my post again. there is one route the OP should take. I was being sarcastic as even after I originally highlighted that the M6 toll was completely useless for the OP, people still recommended using it!!!!
look at all my posts in this thread, now do you see i was being incredibly sarcastic?

I have a feeling it's not. If they'd ever been on the M25 at rush hour I don't think they'd be quite so agreeable!

I think he must write the sat-nav software that takes you on any road without any consideration for traffic. It's still cheaper than the toll road, right? :D

see my response to Lum above. look at all my posts in this thread...

    sarcasm!

    Monday we are going.
  • At 10am during the week the toll road will probably be the safest option.

although you can either rely on the radio to tell you if the M6 is busy, or use the AA's traffic news site to see if there are delays and then take it from there.
It's well worth a fiver instead of sitting in traffic crawling past Birmingham, especially if you're on a long journey and don't want to spend all day on the road.

Not from Devon to Manchester! It will take longer to get to the M42 than it will save.

Perfect run up no queues anywhere, even joining the M6. Only had to slow for the average speed cameras. The run home pretty much the same except for rubber neckers looking at the accidents Northbound.

Exactly, I love using it - its the road where I can see what the car I have at the time can do for a little bit without worrying too much because its quite empty ;)
