Why don`t they cut the price to increase business.
Basic economics. They will have worked out the optimum stragegy.

Lower prices --> more cars --> traffic jams --> failure
    Can I help?

Midland Expressway Ltd are not worried about traffic jams, it's their losses they are trying to eradicate, in 2011 - £22,010,000.

But if there were jams on the "expressway" then nobody would use it.

Given how they advertise it, I suspect if there was a jam then people would be asking for their money back.

Exactly, I love using it - its the road where I can see what the car I have at the time can do for a little bit without worrying too much because its quite empty ;)

Over the years the toll road has lost its fun. Yes it is generally clear, but what it was good for was knowing that there were no cameras or 'old bill' around. 12 miles of sheer bliss in under 5mins! Outside lane and nudging 140 all of the way!

Now somebody has decided that it would be fun to stick a few blue lights behind the grille of a 330 and join in!!!
Regulation 79 now all of the way and boring!!

They also have an unmarked Volvo estate of some sort, probably a V70.

I know about it because they cut in front of me so close I couldn't even see their tyres, while pulling someone over for speeding. Good job making the roads safer there guys!

It was a black Volvo V70/XC70, grey VW Golf R32, and a black Saab 9-5 last time I used it (about a year ago)

Back to the subject, we were filming for TV a few years back, and took the M6 toll on the way to Blackpool. I honestly can't remember what we paid, but we hit all the jams at rush hour!

I generally use it at 5am, which makes life a little better.

And I am not sure if everybody knows but Midland Expressway Ltd are not charged for the policing costs of their private road.

In my view the road should be nationalised, yes it may costs ten of millions, but that and more is presently having to be spent widening the M6 because traffic is not diverting onto the M6 Toll.
