A nice dip that doesn't need a blender -
Soften 1 chopped onion in a little oil. Add crushed garlic, 1/2 tsp chilli, 1 tsp cumin and 1 tsp coriander. Cook for 1 minute. Now stir in 4 tbsp crunchy peanut butter. Then blend in 1/2 cup water (do this slowly), it should be thick but dippable. Finally add 1 tsp soy sauce (or tamari) and 1 tsp lemon juice. Leave to cool.
Brilliant with raw veggies.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

Hello all you lovely lovely LOVERLY people!! :grinheart Please can you spare some time and give me loads of fantastic ideas for the following.
Ok, I have to cater for a group of 35 people (mix of adults and teenagers) going paintballing in a couple of weeks (13th July). We are going by coach so bear this in mind please. I have a budget of £50, I have a BM. What else can I do, that will store well as I can't leave anything in the bus - the driver is on another trip straight after dropping us off!
It's for my DH 40th Birthday - I suggested little individual kiddies lunchbox thingies but DH thinks its a silly idea.
I have Mr T, Mr M and a small somerfield within walking distance anything else is a 20 mile car journey.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -

Bite size pasties? A large frozen pack of puff pastry (with 2 blocks in) costs around £2 and would make approx. 30 small pasties. I'd fill with a mix of feta cheese (1 packet, £1.50 to £2) and grated mature cheddar, with an egg to bind together, and another egg to seal and glaze them.
A filling I haven't tried yet, but keep meaning to, is corned beef. Maybe mashed with a little potato and chopped onion.
Whatever filling you choose, they're easy to transport and shouldn't spoil .some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
Fairy cakes/flapjacks/hobnobs?
Sausage rolls/quiche/mini frittatas
Pasta salad (but not rice, if it has to sit too long at room temp you may risk food poisoning)

Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
Hi all,
I need some help :S
My mum and I are going to one of those outdoor classical concerts where you have to take a picnic etc, while our boys are away for the weekend.
I need to come up with a picnic tea/supper menu for 2, which is a bit special (in fitting with the evening) but also not budget busting. I'm also on the weight-loss thread, but could be persuaded to forget about that for sufficient inducement
So far I've thought:
Roast chicken
Fresh bread
Bucks fizz
Not sure its overly handy in our posh frocks ripping up a whole chook though...
All suggestions gratefully received!!
